Will we let Clarke and Van Hecke go? Surely got to keep one of them. Last season we had injuries and suspensions to centre backs and so were short at times. Letting both go means that situation could arise again.

That is a poor fee for someone who has been player of the season at the 2 clubs he loaned with.....

A bit low yes, but last year of his contract isnt it? and obviously not in our first team plans. Kind of limits the leverage we have to ask for a better fee.

Probably the biggest , or one of the biggest fees in the Champ this summer. Nearly all the EFL business these days and in recent season has been loans, frees or small fees.

Didn't realise that, I thought he would of gone for £5-10 million but I guess its the PL which is unrealistic not the rest of football.

It's not a bad fee considering he only has a year left on his contract.

It was confirmed by Naylor a few weeks ago that we have an option for another year, but it's still a decent fee considering the lack on money being spent by most Championships clubs at the moment. Combined with loan fee's we've probably about broken even on his original £3.5 million fee maybe a small profit overall, not bad when he's not had a sniff of first team action here.

With wages we've covered I think it's unlikely we've made a profit, but to me the point is that we will make a loss on the great majority of these punt sort of signings, but the one who does make it, we can make a huge profit on, or just keep him and play him.

Nothing more to be done than wish Matt all the best for his future

If both head elsewhere this summer does that leave just Colwill as centre back cover for when we play a back three/five? Or am I missing anyone obvious from the senior squad?

Strange signing Clarke. Had 2 championship loans when he was outstanding. As a left footer thought he may be needed but instead loan a player from Chelsea.signed. £2m for a CB that has proved himself in championship for 2 seasons seems very cheap. We may have paid more for Gordon Greer.

Graeme Bailey suggesting the fee will be slightly higher with addons, maybe bonuses for promotion

We don’t know what level of wages we’ve covered or have been paid by Derby and West Brom. Additionally we don’t talk about wages we’ve paid someone like Cucurella when we sold him, we just compare the two transfer fees. So I don’t really see the point of worrying about wages when we look at what we’ve made/loss when one of our loan army gets sold.
