It seems like Potter has dampened down any wild idea that van Hecke is going out loan.

The thinking is that he'll remain in the squad and be patient for his opportunity.

So I guess :

Andone
Clarke
Scherpen

are certain to play elsewhere this season.

Kozlowski
Ferguson

might be loaned out.

Maupay - an intriguing question, even though the sale to Italy looks off.

With a strong U21s lineup playing against Palace right now, I wonder if its being used as a showcase for some scouts of lower league clubs.

The likes of Tsoungui, Spong and Moran might be due a loan this season.

Undav was the sub for Welbz yesterday. Not Neal. That says a lot to me.

I suspect that towards the ends of August, the proper offers will start coming in. The likes of Fulham, Forest, Muff and even a team like Newcastle will pile in.

First hint of a rumour about Andone :

https://www.gsp.ro/stire/stire-671679.html

Gazeta Sporturilor article — Friday, August 12, 2022

"Real Zaragoza, second division in Spain, insists on bringing forward Florin Andone (29 years old).

Florin Andone has one year left on his contract with Brighton, the Premier League team, but he is not in the views of manager Graham Potter."

We can't be doing with multi-taskers on here - we need specialists with their particular expertise. So - can you just concentrate on getting us a £40M striker, please?

:lolol:

I was about to post the same

BW 2 is striker recruitment
Ben’s Grandad (RIP) was LB recruitment

Oh and Zebedee is in charge of full on Mr Mainwaring panicking about the quality all signings

I have a funny feeling that b.w.2. may prove to have been blindsided by a certain Mr Welbeck

Unfortunately there is no indication that Welbeck will be with us next season - my guess is he will be offered a fat contract at Newcastle - so we've got the striker search looming again next summer.

I’d dispute this.

Welbeck is clearly in the ‘senior players leadership team’. Potter has stated a number of times how valuable Welbeck is off the pitch. We gambled on him (because of his injury issues) and it’s paying off. He is man who won’t forget that or how much he is appreciated at the club.

The only way he is leaving is if Manure copy Newcastle and try and take the player back to his home town club; the team he supports. That said, he witnessed the shit-show first hand last week. I’m not sure if he’d leave if they came knocking next summer.

Danny is here as long as we want him. He is a top six level forward and I look forward to us handing him another 2 year deal.

Back in June they announced Welbeck would be with us this season, and that he was expected to sign a new contract this summer. Which would be an indication of intent to be with us next season (why offer a new contract if this season is covered by the current one).

Of course, it's been a couple of months and we're approaching September and not yet had confirmation that this new contract has been signed.

Alan Nixon reckons we are still assessing whether to send van Hecke out on loan or not.

I'm not convinced, though, that both Clarke and van Hecke will go.

The only loan I'd consider worth while for Van Hecke would be to one of the newly promoted teams* in the PL - let him cut his PL teeth playing for someone else before coming back to us as a player with PL experience in a year's time. Dunk won't last forever ................. (though I think he's probably got a couple more seasons left in him; always better to replace too soon rather than too late though).

* or another team struggling to defend - Manchester United for example.

Agree, think one of those are staying. If they can't find a buyer for Clarke then I could see Van Hecke going out on a loan. Not because Clarke is the better footballer but because van Hecke, at 22, would gain more from regular game time.

Another one who hasn't (I don't think) been mentioned on here - and I haven't seen him mentioned anywhere else either - is Tolaj. Disappointing loan to Cambridge last season, and I don't think he's bern anywhere near the U21s yet either. Is he injured? Are there any rumours about what might be happening to him?

(Or is it all done and dusted and I've completely missed it?!!)

All gone quiet with him so far. I wouldn't have been surprised with a loan move to Switzerland, but we must be running low on foreign loan moves now.

He's U21, so not a problem.

I'd like to see him getting acclimatised to the British game though - League1 or the SPL perhaps.

Clarke perm to Boro - £2.25m apparently.

Good move for him I think, good opportunity to re-start his career
