I know people who are wheelchair users who look upon their chair as a great help towards living a full, active and rewarding life. It's not something that "confines" them.

Bit of a moot point, I guess. The word offence, to me, means something personal. I don't take offence to something that does not apply to me. However, I do think that people do not have a real understanding off offensive behaviour if they have not experienced it themselves and I do not think it is advisable to attack when they have no experience whatsoever.
