I'm honestly scared of what will happen if Labour get back in to power. I just cannot understand peoples reasons for wanting to vote for them.
If they get back in to power, we wont have a country left anymore. They can't be trusted with anything.

Please tell me what Labour will do differently?

You know, after the last Conservative government, the sentiment was "oh, how can people vote Conservative?! They cannot be trusted!"

And so the people were saved from the evil blues, by the reds. Perhaps the reds were not great, but who could vote for those nasty blues?

After a decade or so of having been saved by the reds, the people grew weary. They forgot that they hated the blues. Now with the reds in charge, the people were once again dissatisfied.

In time a new cry could be heard, "oh, how can people vote Labour?! They cannot be trusted!" And so the people were saved from the nasty reds, by the blues. The blues may not be great, but who could vote for those nasty reds?

And on it goes...

Strangely, despite the epic battle of the blue team vs the red team, all the while, policy remains the same...

I've never taken a stance or any interest in this countries politics. Whether that's a bad thing or not, I simply believe the politicians tell us what we want to hear but don't follow through.
All talk, no action.
All I care about is getting paid, enjoying my job and going on the odd holiday.

I'm a labour guy myself but tbh every year I get closer and closer to this point of view, kind of reminds me to the reactions in the South Park episode when Obama gets voted in with everyone gets carried away some are terrified others partying and nothing changes anyway. If you've not seen it watch it.

Labour will spend money. People generally like it when Governments spend money. Until it all turns pear shaped and even then lots of people will say "it doesn't matter, keep spending money" not realising that there isn't any money left to spend/spending more money means your standard of living will decrease i.e. increased interest rates

Didn't say that. The conservatives were unelectable in 97 but they had by then sorted the economy out.

It is so strange how people interrupt events in history. The global meltdown was Labours fault, the economic upturn pre-1997 was down to the conservatives...Of course both statements are wrong. The UK economy was pulled into recovery by global conditions, not by any prudent governance of the Conservatives. Likewise, while Labour spent and maintained a deficit (a deficit which was less than much of the time of the Conservatives rule through the '80's), it wasn't until the 'global' financial crisis that the deficit became what it is today.

So really all this 'Labour inherited this', and 'Conservatives inherited that' is nothing but political spin and nonsense that too many people appear to buy into.

Spot on you would have thought people knew this without believing what politicians and newspapers say. And as for the two most contentious issues, we are now borrowing more than ever and immigration has increased along with the other failed promises not a great two years.

I am a member of the Labour party and shall continue to be so for the foreseeable future. Whilst they're far from perfect I feel the offer the greatest chance of a better and fairer society as well as a better economic outlook.

I once did an online assessment tool, that was suppose to tell me which party I should vote for based on their policies.

After answering 10 questions I scored:-

3 Green
2 Liberal
2 BNP
3 Conservative

I decided not to vote????

Exactly this. I am a floating voter people will blindly vote tory or labour if they said all first born children will be killed. Labour made plenty of mistakes as they all do but to blame the economic situation on them is wrong they were not to blame for Lehmans and the fact that we are so reliant on financial services and not a great deal of manufacturing. The tories are making a complete cock up with dreadful ill thought through polices, the lib dems are a joke, controlled immigration is essential for this country, anyone thinking of BNP hang your head in shame. What a mess all round none of them have a clue.

Good points, nice to see some clear thinking.

Totally correct. Good observation. Can I add last time we were in the shit like this we gained a National Government (1930's) to sort it out....will that happen?

It's fine saying we need 500,000 new homes...maybe we do...but then you need, more doctors, schools, jobs, shops, water supply,roads,infrastructure...would be better to cut down on immigration which labour gave us with our open door policy....thanks Blair....

Sorry but I've got to say that this is a complete and utter rubbish.

In 2010 when the last government, immigration was at its lowest level for a number of years and was on a downward trend, amounting to 160k.

Since the Lib Dem/Conservative coalition took power, immigration has INCREASED last year to date to over 200k and is at the highest level it's EVER been.

I also simply do not accept the fact that the last government are solely responsible for the economic crisis this country is going through at the moment, although I do accept that they could have done things better. However, only the the ill-informed will lay the blame solely on the government.

The current government's economic policies have completely failed because the two parties in the coalition are so far apart politically. George Osborne's policies have had over 2 years now to take effect, which is ample enough time for the effective cutbacks to take effect and bring the national debt down. However, rather than falling, the national debt is INCREASING because tax payers burden has become heavier.

normally I would vote GREEN but as it is unlikely they will get into power just yet(or even in my lifetime) and anything to get this useless lot that are running(or should that be ruining ) the country along with the super rich/tight banks, I would vote Labour tactically of coarse as at this moment they are just watered down tories I doubt any one of them would know the true meaning of socialism other than Dennis Skinner.
IMHO the lib/dems are finished as a party the tories have seen to that (wonder how many times that dimwit of a leader of theirs has gone to bed wishing he had tied up with the labour party) or maybe not.
and considering this tory party have ridden on the policy of NO sleeze they are making a right BALLS of it along with much of their other policies.

Brown was not much of a PM his major mistake was NOT nationalising the banks as all those fantastic traders we could not do without have done nothing for us as a nation only line their own pockets

OMG. 6 NSChatters want Ed Balls to destroy the economy & pile up debt again!

Good thing we've got George Osborne to keep borrowing to pay for the unemployed's benefits, though!

Did you see his press conference with the Head of the IMF, she basically said the UK needs to do X,Y,Z to get the economy growing again. Osborne agreed, Balls has been saying this for 2 years.

The funny thing is, country-country lending/borrowing is long term, much more than bank-individual. Doesn't need to be paid off just yet.

At the last election for the first time in my life I didnt want to vote for Labour. I didnt vote for anyone else but Labour was no longer an option. Now Im right back in Labour's camp, not because there are any better than before but because the LibDems have lost all identity and the Tories have less credibility now than Major's Tories had in the last days and even on the economic front they seem to be floundering. I had hoped Cameron might have been different. In fact either he or the people under him have turned out to be totally inept.

Labour gets my vote because they just couldnt be any worse. Id even vote Thatcher (my god I never thought ıd say that) over Camerons Tories.
