You expect too much. Its not that sort of stand. Only rarely at the Goldstone did the South Stand ever make more effort than the North and the West well.....

I don't know how far you are going back but the South Stand was pretty decent in the Mullery years.

(And I was a West stand "Come on you blues" and "Oh my what a referee!" Boy having graduated from all the other stands.

Obscenities = risk of getting ejected, probably after a fair warning.

Racism = CERTAIN ejection, no warnings or tolerance.

Both = yer out sunshine.
His mates decided to accompany him voluntarily.
I wouldn't believe any shit that comes out of your mouth.

Shame those in the North Stand don't vent their support for the team once in a while ???

I sat in the north today Tom. They do support the team but I wouldn't use the word vent.

I swore after we gave away our 200th corner this afternoon and nearly felt obliged to apologise to the whole stand,

As has already been mentioned, every club has it's quiet stand. Ours is the North. Time will tell which one (or two) it will be at Falmer.

I wish the stewards were doing their duty in my area, I missed three of the goals because supporters kept jumping up every time the ball reached around the penalty area.
When you pay for a seat and can see both goal areas what is the point of blocking other peoples view.

I go back to Silver Doc martens with laces removed in the chicken run and don't ever remember the South singing then but do remember the South being the stand to be in for a while in the Mullery years.

you wouldnt expect that sort of behaviour from the match sponsers though

... not since NSC gave up sponsoring matches.

I'm not convinced that "be quiet ... it might upset the visiting directors" is an argument that carries much weight.

My recollection of the day that NSC's finest went wild about defeating the mighty Sunderland is that their directors found it quite entertaining. And certainly a better show than their team put on.

... although I do recall Martin Perry trying to get us to shhhhh.

Lets be a little bit realistic for a second!

Do you really want people, home or away, shouting things from the directors area?

If were honest, Football is a business and today was a chance for our new chairman to make bridges with a new club, do you think they would be impessed by this??

In London village.
in fairness to the stewards, they did leap into action to prevent a deadly open can of coke incident with some bloke and his toddler in J Block. You can't have any Tom, Dick or Harry sip cans of pop you know.

What happened was as follows.

Todays Match Sponsors were swearing and shouting loudly. Whilst it was nothing more than you would hear in the South they were in the row in front of all the Southend Directors and there were a few kids around.

As I said it wasn't too bad and very pro Albion and the players but it was probably a bit over the top when you are there.

I don't think it was the swearing that got them watched it was the fact that they kept standing up!

As you know well this was like a red rag to the stewards (especially as they had hats on!- not really I made this bit up)

Seriously though the Stewards were itching to kick them out especially one so instead of quitely having a word they called one bloke out and this made his mates even more angry. I don't know what was said but then instead of just calming down and telling the Stewards yes sorry he protested and was not allowed back. Some of his mates went with him and the arguments continued for even about half an hour later outside it kicked off again with another of them trying to have a go at a steward and Plod steamed in.

I think it ended then
To be fair both should have handled it better the blokes for not realising they were a bit too OTT and the Stewards for not calming it down.

I felt a bit sorry for the blokes as they were real fans just a bit loud for where they were

If they were real Brighton fans they'd know that what goes in the South may not in the North. If they can't hold their drink, it's hard to feel sympathy for them.

Correst me if I am wrong bu racism is one of 3 reasons stewards can arrest people, wereas being drunk requires the assistance of plod?

Arsebackwards thinking imo, newlabour laws i beleive. The other 2 are throwing objects on the pitch and trying to get on the pitch.

The ejectio sheet says that the match sponsors were warned twice about foul and abusive language,on the third incident they were ejected for the same offence. At the end of the game they thought they were able to go into hospitality and didn't understand that when ejected it means you don't come back in.

So no mention of racism as NMD stated then ???

bang on mate, i was there with them, it was all pro albion, i didn't think the language was vulgar or abusive, we were trying to create atmosphere, i think it could of been resolved better, stewards should of got us to move seats or told us to shut up for the last 10 min but instead they treated my friends and family as hooligans and got the police to take there names down... ah well what can u do
