Follow China's lead and make peace with it. If it has no reason to be a military state, over time it would cease to be one.

I actually said it was a moral question not a geopolitical one so, can you please answer my question which was.......

If a country's regime cannot feed its people and the country regularly has famines caused by political mismanagement (i.e the situation is not geographical/climatalogical because S Korea doesn't have famines). Is it correct that regime should continue?

Pork pie land.
I can't name many examples of peaceful nations period. Countries such as Cuba that have had unnecessary sanctions imposed by the USA for no other reason than it being socialist is a good example.

Cuba is another failed communist state. Like most of the others, they are embracing free enterprise as a solution to their poverty and social problems. They are hardly peaceful either are they? They have sent troops to support communists in most anti-western wars for decades.

could you kindly remind us all which country it is that in the last week has reiterated its state of war with its neighbour, instructed its military to prepare to strike at another nation and moved military assets nearer to it neighbours to threaten them?

doesnt the non-military state of Cuba contradict earlier claims that you have to be so in order to keep the USA at bay?

The prime minister of Grenada, and his associates, were killed, so the US arrested those that did it. Not a popular move from the US, but those the US attacked were hardly peaceful (having just killed their leader).

Your argument for NK letting its people die while spending billions on the military is that the US would destroy them if they didn't. NK have sanctions imposed on them anyway, their ridiculous spending on military power is not needed.

Is that when the US attacked Vietnam forces inside Cambodia?

Why has the match thread turned into a political argument? I want line ups, pre match talk, possible susepnsions and play off places. Would also like to see the full team line ups as it could be interesting. My bet would be North Korea bottling it as I think their leading would be the maddest man in the world to basically take on the rest of the world with their dated equipment. If they do something stupid and have a couple sent off (missiles) then they will be sent back to the middle ages by the US and its allies. 3/1. 1/4 on no war or epic stupidity occuring

This is pretty much true however, the Chinese really want the status quo to continue and as such, may well be toughing up their border with NK in order to prevent a mass stampede in to China if Kick Off time is ever confirmed.

Come to think of it, is it morally right to prevent the home fans leaving early if the match is not going their way ?

Since when did China care what was morally right?

Is that the same Cuba that wanted Soviet nukes to point at the US in the 60's? Or the same Cuba that produces tons of Cocaine which is smuggled into the US every year?

Funny how Cuba have never been invaded by US forces isn't it?

Yes completely unnecessary isn't it?

All of this is just saber rattling from the new guy as he's feeling his generals breathing down his neck.

He's just a kid trying to impress his school pals. His mummy should tell him to go upstairs to his room and not come down until he says sorry.

Oops ! I thought this was NSC ? I appear to have stumbled on to The Oprah Winfrey Show.

It would seem that they cannot guarantee the accuracy of their own missiles if they launch. Looks like they may well end up beating themselves up rather than anyone else. Mind you, they will still claim that destroying their own country is some kind of victory.

Whatever happens in the next few days/months, it will be interesting. What are North Korea's long short/long term goals? Does China want a USA-supported 'United Korea' on their door step? I'm sure nothing will come of this, but only time will tell...

it occurs to me this evening that maybe Kim Jong-un is being manipultated or poorly briefed by people wanting to start a war. im sure the conspiracist will advance that its by the US to create a false conflict, either way its odd that a country that cant feed itself and usually rattles it sabre to get something does seem to be moblising this army for conflict.

i also read that the common chinese refer to him as "Fatty Kim". not a strong showing from his PR there then.

MAKE PEACE WITH IT ?....What do you think the world has been trying to do since the end of the Korean war...which the North started...
It is one family ruling by terror to subject their people to their will...take that family out and the world would rally round to help the people.

The question is, does South Korea want one? Think 'German re-unification', x10.

However desirable for humanitarian, family reunification, regional stability, etc. reasons, it would be a heavy, heavy lift for So. Korea. 1 first world country + 1 fourth world country = 1 practically third world country.

That is quite an impressive post, considering there is so little truth in it.

There has not once been a single attempt at peace talks with North Korea since the war

,your claim is bullcrumbs.........You clearly have not heard of the Six Party Talks, yes they didnt work out but certain countries at least made an effort.

Cuba has great politics, it cares for its people, if it had wealth it would be something akin to utopia -

yep i will go along with that, there is nothing better than an undemocratic communist dictatorship

You will find that most of their famines are caused by environmental problems such as draughts

i dont see why a checkers based board game can be blamed for famine

they have achieved a lot in science, education and the arts

you need to be a politician......you really think crap missiles and a brainwashed populace with zero knowledge of the outside world is an achievement?

It's known as a personality of cult, which essentially means that the dear leaders are little more than personifications of their nation and its values - a lot like our queen.

if i lived on Planet Complete And Utter What The Fick Am I Thinking i think i could also see the comparison with Kim Jong-un and the Queen
