He got a nice wage rise out of it anyway.

We've dodged a bullet.

Not sure if you had a look on the AFCB forums but there fans were rubbing their hands together when they realised the fee involved and mentioned he misses a lot of chances etc etc
sound familiar?

So a player valued at 1.1M doesn't fit our wage structure, but a player valued at 2M does? Sounds like Grabban or his agent making excessive demands to me.

Disappointing as I think he would have been an improvement on Barnes. Another sign though that we seem to be the only club in the division adhering to FFP.

He would have been a big outlay for not very much in my view.

Can't compete with Bournemouth in terms of wages then, can't compete with Burnley. Or wont. Looks like we'll be in the Championship for a long time then which is fine but only a matter of time until the new supporters drift away.

Can't and won't are two different things.

Would like to think it's more a case of "won't be held to ransom on wages" rather than can't compete.

Average mediocre player, definitely not worth 1.1m. How we can think of swapping Barnes with Grabban and making a loss at the same time is ridiculous....

Or its that he has no ambition and probably had absolutely no intention of leaving anyway - but just wanted a wage increase so used the 1st club who payed any sort of interest in him.

We can compete against clubs like Bournemouth, but when players want to act like this - then the club can do nothing.

'Albion are expected to revert their attention to Cardiff's Joe Mason. He will cost around £2 million but will fit in with the Seagulls' wage structure.'

Good news then.
