No extra 2000 seats for August then!

That is precisely what the council have agreed to do.
So are we waiting on them? And if so how long have we been waiting already?

What about the university car parks? Racket club? Waterhall?

Actually Waterhall would be perfect! Shit loads of land there, just park on the grass (not on the pitches though!)

Most business parks and industrial estates are empty after 6pm and at weekends. There has got to be one industrial estate in Brighton capable of holding 200 cars.

Home farm business park by Wild Park, although that may be considered too close to the exisiting park n ride site on the Lewes Road. Wouldnt it need to hold more than 200 cars though for 2000 seats?

As for FG's other idea, I really can't see how the club can consider selling tickets on the previso you dont use a car, how many people already flount the current parking ban and how many would disregard this, how is it even possible to manage?

You have to have a new entrance built to accomodate the new seats. The planning officer wasn't happy with 1000 visiting fans walking along the south stand to get to the seats, as you can imagine what mayhem that would cause.

Previous ramblings from Lord Bracknell

Lord Bracknell said:
Three points:-

1. When the Falmer Stadium is built, Sussex University car park spaces will be used by the Albion (at a significant charge to drivers with a requirement that the vehicles carry passengers as well as the driver). The Club will pay for improved access to the University site as part of the agreement with Sussex University and the City Council.

2. As far as extra seats at Falmer are concerned, the requirement is for additional park and ride facilities to serve traffic arriving from the north (via the A23) and the west (via the A27). There is already unused capacity at Mithras House for cars coming from the east (via the A27/A270). Making yet more capacity available from this direction (which is all that will be achieved if Sussex or Brighton (Falmer) University car parks are used) won't contribute to a solution.

3. The big extra park and ride facility that is planned for when Falmer opens is at Brighton Racecourse - to serve traffic coming along the A259 from the east. Despite what Rottingdean Parish Council and a few Woodingdean NIMBYs have been saying, access to the Racecourse P&R site will be via Wilson Avenue.

As I have said on another thread, Brighton Racecourse would be a perfect Park & Ride venue. There is ample parking and the racedays / nights do not clash with club fixtures.

Even if they have other events on, there is still plenty of parking both inside and outside the site.

Come on guys, lets get these seats sorted!

I agree with the point made above that this should be very high priority for the Albion in the summer... we may well gain some fans who turned up at Cardiff and wish to see the Albion in Div 1 next season... the club and council really need to pull their respective fingers out and find the P&R sight ASAP... I am a project manager, and if the council have agreed to find a list of suitable sites for the club, then I would be on their case until they had carried out the task they had agreed to... are the club chasing?... probably not, with MP on his honeymoon, but it shouldn't be down to one man... just do it!...

dave the gaffer,

BHA could accomodate the away fans in same manor they did those west country yokels from Swindon part North and existing away even use that useless U or V block with 200 in it it doesnt have to be the new West Stand. SHORT SIGHTED VISION ONCE AGAIN BY THE CLUB and its management.
