Am packing in drinking for 2013.

Has anybody ever done anything like this themselves?

Reckon its gonna be quite a challenge.

Fairly regularly.

Wine in week. Few lunchtime beers if in London.

Beers on Brighton home games.

Most of my socialising is done whilst boozing.

Gonna be a challenge for sure

Dry January has always been the case for me and my mates. I don't drink much anyway to be fair, only when I'm out socialising.

Why are you packing in booze for the whole year? Or quitting forever?

I stopped drinking for a year once, because I was a little shit and a terrible drunk- the most annoying thing is having to explain yourself to people when your ordering a soft drink- otherwise I got on OK socialising without, avoiding booze at home is easy, just don't buy any.

My wife says I make bad decisions when drunk, so to prove her wrong I agreed to not drink for 2013.

Not quite sure how it all came about as I was drunk at the time I agreed.

Guess she has a point :)

Running my first marathon in April.

Tonight was my last drink until I corss the finishing line.

Never tried avoiding the booze before, matchdays are going to be tough and not quite so much fun!

Best of luck to you:smile:

Thanks mate.

Good luck with the marathon too.

Fitness is a huge motivator behind my quitting too.

Gave up for lent once. It does get easier.

TBH if you give up for a year, you may as well give up.

I wish you well. Good luck Snook.

Good luck with it 00snook.

It will be incredibly difficult in the first few weeks. I found my moods were very grouchy at times but it gets easier the longer you go without drinking. It'll be a year in February that I've had to pack it in apart from a slip in March. BUT I've lost about three stone in weight and am as fit as a fiddle now as I was ten years ago and that feels great so if you really are determined to do it, you can!

All the best with it fella.

Yep. Going into pubs and ordering a lemonade or coke is still seen as strange by bar staff in pubs. They make you feel as if you've just been beemed down from another planet.

I used to drink it all. now no booze this jan for 7 yrs now, never felt better pysically and mentally, your just have to avoid pubs and don't buy any. you're probably lose 98 percent of your so called friends but is a great way to find out who your real mates are. you will have a great deal more cash in your pocket feel better and live longer,it's not easy but worth it.

This is very tempting. I'm rather bored with boozing at the moment.

Good luck with that and you will save a fortune as well. Put all your beer/wine money in a pot and you will have enough for a lovely holiday in no time at all.
