Again, I heard no booing. There may have been the odd idiot out of 15k but that’s always the case and not the reason to write an article like the Argus did, or tweet like ‘we are Brighton’ did - I didn’t hear anything except slightly embarrassing cheering (could have been aimed as support to his replacement (AJ I think?) or even irony at Potter going more attacking.) but somehow it’s turned into Bong being roundly / loudly booed. He wasn’t. I was there, right by the press bit. It’s hear say bollocks and Chinese whispers as far as I’m concerned..!

Thats what I heard....a few ironic cheers that he’d been hooked, but no actual booing.

All the utter ****tards on twitter and facebook, and a few in the crowd, who constantly slag him off need to take a long hard look at themselves IMO. He was an integral part of the squad that got us promoted, a decent defender and always put a shift in. Can’t recall hearing anything negative about him off the pitch. Very best of luck to him and hope it works out well at Forest. He’ll do a very decent job in the Championship.

Luckily his exit message was as it should be and he clearly loves the club & fans.

Weird how the outspoken anti Albion Husty is the only one to have heard booing (from his stream). Hold on Husty, didn’t you say you won’t go unless it was priced properly. £15 a ticket and you still watch from your armchair then spout off on here against those that were there? Standard.

Really solid defender, rarely got muscled off the ball, and will do a good job at Forest. Has been a decent player for us, and a great character to have around the place. Thanks for everything Gaetan- and so for the last time (words suitably amended):

"ONE BONG - we only had one Bong, we only had one Bong, we only had one Bong!"

Best of luck at Forest

Agree on all points. No booing, but the cheering as Bong was hooked was sadly very, very audible and categorically the biggest cheer from the North West Corner all day.

Nice words to us in the Argus - Good Luck Gaetan.

Bongs Emotional Goodbye.

Gaetan Bong paid a glowing tribute to everyone at the club after his four-and-a-half-year spell came to end, when his move to Nottingham Forest was confirmed yesterday.

The Cameroon international signed a deal with the Championship side until June 2022, and he reflected on a memorable period on the south coast with a poignant Instagram post.

He said, “It’s been five years at Brighton & Hove Albion, without a doubt a memorable time in my life. Years of immeasurable joy, our climb into the Premier League, very good teammates on the field and in the locker room, but also moments of questioning. I am happy to have helped the club write a big page in its history"

“I learned to love the club, the city and its supporters. Playing football here was special for me. A feeling of deep respect for the members of the club and you, my dear supporters who have always been there in the good times as well as in difficult times.

“However, this is the right time for me to start a new page in my life and I am happy to join Nottingham Forest Football Club team for this new challenge, and great opportunity. I made the choice to leave, but I will always feel at home there.

“Brighton has conquered my heart and that of my family and for that, I can never thank you enough. Thank you to the club, to the leaders, to my teammates, doctors, physical trainers, stadium workers and supporters, it is because of you that it all works.

“Thank you all for your support. I love you and will remain in my heart forever.”

Yes it was.
And it was very sad, but I suspect the look on Gaetan's face had more to do with the fact that he was unable to deliver what was needed in that game, rather than the response from the fans.

The bloke is a professional and a top, top bloke. A few ironic cheers would not have been as devastating to him as the feeling of not delivering when needed.

On NSC for over two decades...
He was a solid player for us, Bong. Don't forget that when he signed for us it brought to an end a period of several years when we didn't actually have a regular left back of our own - he removed the doubt as to whether we still needed one.

I wish him all the best.

Playing for Forest tonight and already getting pelters from their fans. At fault for Charltons goal. Hemed also playing

We’re all impatient wankers whoever we support, sound familiar?

"Anyone think it might be advisable to give this guy a chance? I realise having knee-jerk reactions is the thing to do on here but let's not get the pitchforks out just yet.

Lucky for (some of) those Forest fans, Bong is the ultimate grown up, professional (ok...apart from that driving thing).
He'll be fine.

It's a terrible thing to lose your Bong when you desperately need a calming hallucinagenic presence in your life.
