Shame they included JLS and Beyoncé in that list because it destroyed whatever few shreds of credibility it had in the first place. The Strokes - pah! NME darlings, but nobody likes them in the real world. And 'Cant Stand Me Now' is a far superior Libertines song shirley?

List compiled by spotty fifth-formers trying too hard to be controversial IMHO.

Can I be the first to say; all Coldplay music is shite, it's Dad music for bland middle-aged people? Just thought I'd get that out of the way

To sell magazines (hence why there's always at least one controversial choice).

I must be old before my time then! Tbh they're so successful because they appeal to such a wide audience rather than just a subculture or something.

also because they're quite easy to write (there's no "story" to hunt down, you don't need to interview anyone etc.) you can get a work experience kid to write it (so it's free)

Can I be the first to say; in my opinion all Coldplay music is shite, it's Dad music for bland middle-aged people? Just thought I'd get that out of the way

Corrected for you.

I'm not a massive Coldplay fan myself but I quite like some of their early stuff.

I agree. Not much wrong with Parachutes at the time. However, the stuff they have churned out since then has become more and more shite until the absolute gash they produce now.

What is it with the NME & Radiohead?? I think employees there have a clause in their contract that they must love Radiohead!!! Its been the same in NME for the past 20 years!!

Oh and looking at the list, it is interesting to see now many are quibbling with the Bloc Party entry (which I like myself), and I love Spanish Sahara by Foals.

Some of those are odd inclusions though. Quite like Hot Chip, but top 15? And Radiohead, Amy Winehouse and MGMT have all produced better tracks than the ones listed.

Why Missy Elliot is on there, I'll never know. The FAT BITCH.

What a f***ing pisstake. That's mainly just a list of songs for people who aren't individual enough to like their own music so just go with the crowd. Who actually likes Radiohead? I've never heard a single person claim they do, yet they're number one. I've only actually heard of three of the top ten which shows what a joke it is. Where is the Take That song? You can't tell me none of the boys' efforts since 1996 deserve to be in the top 20 songs. Coldplay - Fix You is arguably the best song of that period, and Someone Like You by Adele is the best of the last year. Farcical list.

Top work SID x

Parachutes - Good
Rush of Blood - By far their best
X&Y - Good
Viva la Vida - By far their worst
Mylo Xyloto - Hopefully they can redeem themselves after the last one

All imo like.

Absolutely agree with this. I thought the first album was excellent, the 2nd was ok, everything since has been dire (including the MAHOOSIVELY OVER-RATED TRIPE THAT IS "FIX U", (although I really like their new single - Paradise)!
