So do I to be honest. And if he'd simply posted that rather than a list of bollocks, I'd probably have liked his post.
He'll be regretting that for the rest of the day now. Fool.

Yes, well I did take it personally. And there is still a huge difference between someone whose name is on the ballot, and a completely fictitious entity put on the paper with the sole aim of fooling the public.
You are missing the point and making my last post about you again.

There are paper candidates and dummy candidates who are definitely real people whose names are put on a ballot but they have no intention of serving if they are elected or are as Farage did in 2019, withdrawn before the election for tactical reasons to support Boris Johnson.

Imo, I think there are issues with integrity if including or removing candidates’ names from ballot sheets are simply used as a means to an end for leaders of a party rather than them standing because they are pledging to represent their constituents at a local or general elections if elected. That goes for any party that does that whether they be on the left or right of the spectrum - my point is about the nature of our representative democratic traditions rather than me making politically motivated comments.

Don’t get me wrong, in no way shape or form did I vote for Reform, however, Farage’s commentary around the erosion of British values does strike a note.
Out of interest, and this is not a cheap attack line like others have tried but an attempt at genuine engagement, which values in particular do you feel have been eroded, and how?

I haven't voted for the Labour candidate in a GE in 20 years!
Nor me, and I voted Tory in the 80s. Some posters cannot justify putting their faith in decidedly dodgy characters (60 odd flights with Epstein?) so have to denigrate those who are looking at recent events.
Heaven forbid, that a tweet should be posted with a direct quote from someone, rather than a newspaper article where it is 'a source' or 'heard from concerned' or even 'it is understood'.
Some journalists have proved themselves to be client journalists who print their owners' political will, or whoever donates the most.

Yes, Byline Times are investigating candidates, and have said, since yesterday, 15 have been found to be paper candidates (one a student in Crawley) that are real. No witch hunt, just trying to find out facts.
Still, it amuses some posters to post digs, so carry on.

How soon before he is done for lying to the house? I'll be generous and give it 2 years.

(AKA the equivalent of 20 appearances in the house. He'll manage 10 appearances in a year....surely?)
Alexander de Pfeffle Johnson got away with lying for years, so I can't see Nigel being penalised for it.

You only get chucked out if you call someone a liar.

Look at the phantom reform candidates stuff earlier in the thread and how excited people got over some blatant misinformation, there's absolutely no evidence that it's true and it doesn't even make sense that they'd do it - it's probable more effort to commit fraud and invent a person than it is to e-mail a member and ask if you can use their details.

I wonder if some people just need to fight a bogey man. It'll be Reform until the Tories get their act together.
The easiest way for this to be debunked would be for Nigel to introduce them to the media, or them to introduce themselves.

Has that happened?

Jeez that's a hell of a take. Enemies of Reform, Racist party, Russia and Nazis comparisons all in one post when the guy has actually said that he's got a list of teachers that have been "allegedly" making negative comments regarding Reform. Now I'll say it again, I'm not a reform supporter before there's another stupid pile on. That said no teachers should be directly passing on their own political views on ANY party to any student as gospel.

I also really hoped now that the election is over we might lose some of this really awful language and aggressive vitriol that's become so prevalent on here. Labour have won, I accept that completely and I wish them well because a change is required and fresh ideas welcome.
The warning signs are there.

Sorry … what! You did just listen to the leader of Reform using his maiden speech to slag off the old speaker.🤦‍♂️
This is what Reform will do. Use their power to get revenge on people who have disagreed with them in the past. Settle old scores.

Like the Nazis did. Like the Russians do.

Just read the last couple of comments on here. I refer back to my light hearted post from earlier. As soon as someone posts an alternative view to the usual left wing thinking the word "nazi" is banded about. Not a direct accusation of being a nazi this time but the use of the word in any context is strong enough to stifle any opposing view. Or fascist or my favourite "far right" to anyone who is even slightly to the right of centre. I don't post that often for that reason. I enjoy political discussion and I find it interesting to read alternative views but the hate from one side on NSC makes any attempt at reasonable engagement unworthwhile.

My use of the word Nazi was used to describe similar actions by Reform.

Making lists of people who have badmouthed you is what the Nazis did.

It’s what reform are doing.

It makes me very uncomfortable. And it should raise some serious alarms.

I agree.

The fact that Reform are assembling a list of teachers who don't agree with them, is troubling. What is the list for exactly? Is it to intimidate the teachers? Is it to threaten to publish the list, and embarrass them? And then publish it, to release the attack dogs on the teachers?

It is worth noting that the teachers, as far as I know, have not committed any crime. Freedom of speech and all that.

Well I voted for Larry the Cat and he's to the right of @spence He wanted to expel all the Persians.
He missed out by a whisker too - so sorry he’s lost his seat. He was a stalwart in the Covid pandemic - really brought the Country together with his pressers and his distain for Liz Truss was inspiring. :rave:

Again, that's a bit of a stretch isn't it?, you're going from 0-100 like an old Ford Mexico. Attack dogs on the teachers ???????

My sister used to make lists of people she didn't like, I don't think she's a Nazi, a complete idiot granted but definitely not a Nazi.

As for a crime, you are probably correct but Gov guidance is "Teachers absolutely can talk about politics – and they are encouraged to do so. What they shouldn’t do, though, is present their own, or anyone else’s, political views as fact. As a general principle, they should avoid expressing their own personal political views to pupils unless they are confident this will not amount to promoting that view to pupils."
