I very much doubt that many people right of centre watch Channel 4 News any more than they read the Guardian!

Fair point, but I don't think you have to watch Channel 4 news to see what the reform campaigners and officials have been saying, it's headlines everywhere

I don't think it will, unfortunately. The 14-15% that the polls are still showing for Reform after the past week are the sort of people that will turn a blind eye and/or be in denial about the racist support for the party.

The good thing is that this 15% is thinly spread across all constituencies and will hinder the Cons far more than it'll benefit Farage.
"turn a blind eye"
Or they're racist, obvs

I have only heard about it on NSC, with a brief mention on Radio 5 (but I wasn't really listening). I would imagine there is a mass of people out there who have no idea about this.

Someone who called into R5 this morning, a 70 year old retired accountant, claimed that neither Labour not Tory have revealed anything about what they plan to do. This is complete and utter nonsense, but seems to have become a trope.

We know what the Tories will do - we have had 14 years to observe how they operate. Labour have published a detailed manifesto. When Starmer tries to explain Labour policies he is interrupted because nobody wants to listen to boring detail, or nuance.

Stop the boats! People understand that.

Luckily a large number of people have decided to vote Labour, based on Starmer's actions and aspirations and the cut of his jib, with a backdrop of 14 years of tory failure for comparison, and have stopped listening to all this bollocks.

Agreed on both points but, as to the first, I strongly doubt that m/any of them will watch it. If they watch anything, it'll be GB News and they'll read The Sun, Star, Express or if they're really sophisticated The Mail -- and doubt an item on C4News is going to make their pages.

I’d also point out they’re a bit thick, as Farage implied with his “not politically sophisticated” comment. If you want to be associated with thick racists then fill yer boots.
Indeed 🙂

This basically sums up the whole election campaign. Even the bloody comperes of every single debate have shouted over him.

And if he does manage to get a complete sentence out people bleat on about how boring he is. Do you want to know what he's going to do or not?
Do you expect reform of the house of lords or an elderly care strategy to be exciting?

I know who I'd rather go for a pint with and with wouldn't be bloody Sunak.

You'll be fine going drinking with Starmer. If the landlord refuses admittance he will just get his burly looky-likey security man to manhandle the miscreant landlord out of the way.

I guess mentioning that Reform UK attracts lots of individuals and groups with racist inclinations could potentially put off people who are concerned or uncomfortable supporting a party associated with racist support. Highlighting such associations may influence their decision-making proces. Although I suspect strongly that people who are still Farage fans after his recent explicit defence of Putin aren't going to have their opinions changed unless they're really anti-racist and not in denial about their prejudices against people that don't look like them.
My other half is getting nervous so reassured her l’ll be on my best behaviour but will ask why the preoccupation with immigration/muslims which is what Farage is all about.

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
Tony Mack was the Reform Candidate (Oct 2023) for Clacton, but was pushed aside to make room for Farage at the beginning of June.
He was promised a refund on his expenses, a salaried job in the constituency, and a place in the campaign team.
None of which has materialised.

I must admit I'm having second thoughts about continuing my 'Not every Reform supporter is thick' campaign. To be honest, it didn't start particularly well and has dipped a bit since but Nige's statements today have got me thinking.

When he says that the reason Reform supporters come out with racist and homophobic stuff is 'because they didn't go to Oxford' and that his candidates aren't 'politically sophisticated' it makes me wonder that, if he thinks so little of them, maybe my time would be better spent on another worthwhile campaign ???

Seems the "Star" of Channel 4s hit piece was an actor. So no doubt Farage lawsuits will start flying.

I really dont mind being called a Conspiracy theorist.:ROFLMAO:

doesn't it slightly contradict a political system wherein you sort the wheat from the chaff i.e. you find the brightest people to run the country in a representative democracy and the idiots are pushed to one side and largely ignored

I think to have a voice you also need a brain and morons should be excluded from having a say in how the country is run, otherwise look what happens......Brexit. People deciding on complex political subjects like International trade deals, yet struggle to operate scissors
