the "contract" is hilarous mix of tax and spending cuts, with sprinkling of eye catching policies many would like. the substance is flimsy but the presentation is very good. of course it doesnt add up, it doesnt have to... this time. with much trailed collapse of Conservative party and 5 yrs to refine some points, starts to look like a party with a serious chance at power next election. they'd be utterly shambolic and clueless in power, but we'd get to see that too late.

So easy to trigger people on here who get upset because someone else may have a different opinion to them. It's pathetic and embarrassing.
To be fair, the policies of what ever party get in ( or stands ) should be challenged and dissected because they really will affect every day lives. That's not being "triggered", it's caring about what might / will happen.

No, what's pathetic and embarrassing is when those different opinions are not based on any evidence, logic or facts, but on a cult of the personality.

Like all populists, Farage offers simplistic solutions to complex problems by identifying scapegoats and enemies (immigrants, the Woke). He also (like Trump and Boris Johnson) creates a disingenuous 'man-of-the-people' image, even though he's a public-school-educated, millionaire, City trader, who, until last year, banked with Coutts - who are the bank of the Royal Family.

Farage is not anti-Establishment, he is a classic part of the Establishment.

Nigel Farage has unveiled a raft of populist pledges, massive tax cuts and £140bn in spending commitments in a Reform UK manifesto that economists said did “not add up”.

The Conservative party, which has struggled to counter the growing Reform threat, accused Farage of being part of a “great entertainment machine” who was not somebody who could govern the country.

If dear Nigel comes up with a raft of policies which are going to reduce drastically the amount of government income from tax while at the same time promising things (including those tax cuts) which are going to leave a great big black hole in the finances, he can’t expect to be taken seriously. It’s not “different opinion”, it’s idiotic incompetence - I’ve already seen it likened to back of a fag packet stuff.

One sure certainty of Farage Party candidates whichever guise it is, Ukip, Brexit, or Reform, prior to any election, salacious and unsavoury scandal will be revealed of many candidates. Vetting is virtually non existent so any unhinged crackpot who pays the £100 entry fee (non refundable) to be a candidate of Reform UK Ltd has a chance.

This year has been no different. After last week's scandal of the Bexhill & Battle candidate once stating Hitler should have been negotiated with, Churchill was useless & women were a tax burden to men, yet another candidate has been exposed as a Hitler fanboy.

Why do I have a vision of this guy living with his parents & a hard drive that reveals unsavoury content?

Hitler despised socialism.
Indeed. Whatever description the Nazi's may have used for what they did, actions speak louder than words. However, Martin Niemoller's words made the actions quite clear. The most quoted version is:

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

He is quoted at different times saying several other versions of this. Every one of them starts with the Nazis' first target being socialists.

I think the difference here is that Farage has gone full "free broadband" on acid.

The "party" (well limited company with no members) is led by a collection of spivs and chancers.

They have absolutely no idea how the public sector is run, financed or what cost savings are there to be made.

At least the other parties have access to the figures and can then lie about them.

Clearly the only reason Farage got involved is that he was off the telly when a election was called. Suddenly faced with the realisation no-one has a clue who he is in America, he decided to run.

One of the waitresses at our pub asked me who I’m voting for, I told her that I’d probably vote Labour, then I asked who she was voting for……the response shocked me a bit to be honest. She said she was voting for Nigel Farage, the reason being that he does really funny TicToks. Bit worrying really when you think about it.
