You may need to repost that and replace the bit you bolded 'a brick tomorrow' with 'a paper cup tomorrow'. It seems to be escalating at a slower pace than first imagined.

On a more serious note, even if relatively harmless, it may make the throwers feel good about themselves, but it's counter productive to their aims. Roderick Spode Nigel Farage is not marching thugs through Cable Street, he's blowharding like the golf club bore that he is and must be met with words, not violence. He also loves the opportunity to talk to the media about anything except his useless Liz Truss tribute act policies. This just adds to the list of grievances he'll need to get through in every interview before he can answer the question, oh sorry, we've run out of time.
Excellent obscure reference. Will Farage crumble if you say Eulalie to him?

I don't condone any violence against politicians of any sort.

And If it was a brick, as claimed, I'm sure the photos of the damage to the bus will be all over the internet within minutes ???
if it were a brick, I think some of us would be less circumspect about the danger of using something that can potentially caused GBH if it made contact with a human -

But we are talking about empty milkshake cups being thrown at a campaign tour bus ( unless I have missed something)

Vigorously defending Farage’s right not to have milkshakes thrown at him isn’t a hill that I would choose to die on personally.

If that had been a Muslim that had thrown a milkshake at him, Michael Gove would have called them a terrorist.

This is an issue on both sides of the divide at the moment, dont agree with someone? must be far left/far right.

The level of debate in this country is in the mud
Agreed - except to say there is far more justification for calling Farage and Tommy Robinson on the far right than there is to call Stanmer on the far left!

This sounds suspiciously like victim blaming.

As long as he stays within the confines of the law, I don’t see what else can be done. You can’t go around saying “they were asking for it”. It’s not a valid defence in court, unless directly provoked and acting in self defence. Which clearly neither party was.
He has responsibility for his actions and words. He can’t have it both ways which is what he wants. He wouldn’t say it to faces of the people that he maligning because he’s gutless, hence being on a bus.You reap what you so.

Folks, some of us saw this coming.

For pages and pages I’ve been saying that it isn’t the milkshake per se, it’s the very real danger of normalising assaulting politicians in what should be a democracy.

I spoke before at some length about one-upmanship and the dangerous risk of copycat attacks, particularly due to exposure and engagement via TikTok et al.

This can not be laughed off or trivialised as many did originally, because some of us see the bigger picture and the inherent risk in undermining our democracy by not absolutely condemning attacks of any politician in public.

If he didn’t say the crap he does, he’d likely not get hit with milkshakes.

Victim blaming? Yep. He’s a racist arse-hole.

If you came out with his bollocks down the pub you’d likely get chinned. And you’d deserve it.

A minimum of two objects hit the bus that are confirmed, one appears to be an empty cup. That’s what the BBC are reporting, with one arrested and in custody.

You’re the one getting enervated over a milkshake.
Once again, I am not saying anyone is going to be seriously hurt by a milkshake. What I’m saying is that precedence for assaults against politicians in a democracy are an extremely dangerous path to go down. It’s all fun and games when it’s somebody we don’t like, what about when it’s someone we do?

My issue isn’t based on any love for Farage, I’d be just as appalled if this happened to Corbyn when he was campaigning, another man I loathe.

I just don’t want to see it or for it to become normalised. It’s really that easy.

He’s not a politician. He runs a racist business.

It’s not normalised. It doesn’t happen to politicians normally.

I don't claim any expertise, but purely from a layman's point of view i'd suggest unbranded empty coffee cup and branded empty milkshake cup ???

Well he’s campaigning as a prospective MP and head of a political party, regardless of the semantics

Gods country fortnightly
In unrelated news, he's chickened out of being interviewed by Robert Peston on the BBC tonight
I know Campbell and Stewart have invited him onto the rest is politics podcast. See if he accept.

He OK is a room playing to an audience, but hates proper scrutiny. This is way having Reform as a business suits him, answerable to no one
