Lets not forget he has had a few quid to spend where other managers have had sweet fk all.

and? He's also brought in players who would never be here if it wasn't for him.

Plus, our big money marquee signing CMS. Could have gone elsewhere, came to us largely because of Gus' persuasive powers.

TBH I think anyone who thinks Gus transfer dealings are rubbish is a bit mental (not aimed at the quoted poster).

There is something to be said for the identical nature of the Brum & Ipswich matches.

They do set out the blue print to not be beaten, by us.
Many teams would see that as a point gained, but in time we could end up ruing the dropped points.

Gus needs to have a plan B, the lack of one cost us 5 points, in those 2 games.
We didn't need hindsight for the last hour v Ispwich to see what way the game was going.

I try and avoid commenting on matches and our play as I only get to watch highlights/streams listen to the radio, but, when we're talking about Gus' record or his transfer dealings I'm very surprised at some people's attitude.

I could name various managers who spent shit loads more money than gus have and got nowhere near his achievement, that includes various in this same league. Not too sure why you appear to have such a dislike to gus?

As the saying goes, you can't please all the people all the time.

Talk about jump to conclusions. Who said I dont like Gus??? stop making things up.

OK, name another Brighton manager who has had the money Gus has been given?

I was sure we'd lose on Saturday, so whatever all the respect from Clough and our inability to counter it, it's a decent point for me. Falling in the table is irrelevant, you pay some days for what you didn't do in earlier matches, that was the case here.

If we'd beaten Ipswich, it would look even better. A bit like Millwall yesterday. They had gone three defeats and then two away draws, but beating Bolton at home in the last minute makes the two away draws last week look much better results. Derby are a decent side now, especially at home.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
Clough is excusing his own failings, isn't he? He's been at Derby a fair while and not made a huge amount of progress. Relative new boys came to Pride Park and didn't let his team dictate.

Lots of plan B's. One got us a point against Ipswich.

What I want to know is if Plan V is ever going to work again or has it gone for good?

Well judging by Gus's quotes Plan V will be back in training with CMS and Crofts and I do expect to see him play for us in November.

Well you read back pretty much all of your posts since last night and I struggle to find one positive one? If that shows your solidarity for the manager and the team then I am buggered. This isn't a dig at you just my opinion of what I have read.

How can you ask me to name another Albion manager who has had that kind of money when we have been exiled and at withdean? The amex changed our budget as the chairman was willing to invest, before this we had knight? I guess if I am pushed for an example of increased wages and signings it would be m. Adams mk2 and that was the worse football I have ever seen. Poyet has transformed us, how long you been going out of interest?

I can name you Sven from last year and also Blackburn spent 8 million this year on one player and we are above them. Think forest have spent a few quid too, but again are above them.

This division is very tight but we are up there contending and again Imo are playing excellent football.

And let's not forget the amount of money Ipswich have thrown around in the last few years in order to wrap up their stagnant midtable finishes. It's alright having the money to invest in the team, actually making progress and building a successful side is a fine art. We're doing very well.

We are getting closer to being a very very good side. I am though a little disappointed in the last day transfers deal players although I reckon Dobbie will come good. Neither Orlandi or Lopez really wanted to have a go at the full backs yesterday.
I wonder if CMS could play with Dobbie upfront. I think Gus was happy with the point yesterday because he didn't gamble with bringing KLL on when the game looked open enough for him. If we can have Buckley, CMS and Vicente fit for the remainder of the season then we will have a say in things.

As your username suggests, you pose many Questions but offer no answers!

I think CMS and Dobbie will be a potent combination when they start playing together regularly. Dobbie looks dangerous and will be so much more effective when we have CMS terrorising the defence and creating a bit more space for Dobbie to do his weaving. There have been a lot of people on NSC suggesting we should sign George Boyd from Peterborough to improve the service to CMS, but I think Dobbie is potentially much better. He'll score plenty of goals and he'll lay plenty of chances on for CMS as well. Hopefully!

I do hope CMS and Dobbie can work together, it would be a pretty exciting partnership if they can.
And anyway there are more questions than answers...... Just ask Johnny Nash.

But the point is we are doing well. We have only lost two games all season.

I give up I am out of here.
Yeah we are fookin brilliant, I'm never going to dispute that.

But we are not the same club, let alone team, as the one that loses at home to Walsall.
So that is a pointless comment.

We are doing well and have been undone in an identical fashion, in the last home games.
That has to be a worry, as nothing changed, thereby advertising the fact how 'easy' it is to leave The Amex with at least a point.

So as great as we are Gus can still do better.

How can they be flattering gus? They changed there formation to DEFEND at home. That to me is a compliment on how far this football club has come when teams can not play their normal way because the opposition offers too much of a threat.

Clough might have found his brain disturbed after the Scunthorpe match ???

I mean I can't get over Barnes heading against the post from Vicente's corner. That was enough to make Vicente want to go back to Spain ???

We are a different team now, and having Gus at the helm makes us all the more appealing, which is fantastic.

My point is for 60 mins v both Brum and Ipswich our fantastic team couldn't mix it up enough to be nothing other than predictable to a well organised team happy to defend.

(Right showing why I'm not Brighton manager) Gus didn't even sling Greer up front for the final 10 mins.
Something, anything needs to happen within the squad we already have, to counteract a defensive team, parking the bus intent with going home with a point.

All this talk of plan Bs. At the end of the day, if a team come and put 10 men behind the ball it is going to be tough for anyone to score, be they Barcelona or Accrington Stanley (with no disrespect to them). It doesn't really matter how you play, you need to be patient and take the chance when it comes..

I imagine everyone can do better, but I don't think those two games have advertised it as being easy to leave the amex with at least a point. Firstly, I think the discipline Birmingham showed is not so easy - ipswich couldn't keep us out like that. Secondly, it ignores that we were missing key players in Bruno, Crofts, and CMS, and were playing the likes of Dobbie, Orlandi and Lopez who will all need time to adjust to the way we play and/or championship football.

Take three important players from any team out, replace them with players with different tendencies (dobbie v CMS), and players foreign players with little experience (prior to birmingham lopez played 11 minutes, orlandi had the equivalent of two matches total game time), and getting at least a point off them at their own ground can appear easy.

I do agree with both of you.

But the similarities between the 2 games was startling, and so I felt something needed to come from Gus, to change it up.

Peterborough and Bristol City will want to play exactly the same game.

If M'borough don't and we roast them, we may well add Leeds to that as well, although I doubt that.

As I said, I don't comment on games (unless I've seen them)

Gus' record though? I'll weigh in. It's f***ing good, and the team is getting better and better. That's a fact.
