Blimey, there's a name from the past. Never met the bloke, but I can quite clearly recall his face from his many appearances in Gulls Eye, along with his comedy appearance as match mascot. He used to sell GE outside the Goldstone did he not?

don't know him BUT was witness to that dive in front of the North Stand, which we were talking about on here only the other day.

Get well soon mate. One of my favourite moments at a football match.

Nigel led quite a few of the pitch invasions during 'The Gory Years' and was banned from the Goldstone by Belloti and still has the letter on his mantlepiece at home informing him of the fact along with a photo of him and Steve Foster from that day when he was the mascot.

Jeez that is TERRIBLE news! I've known Nigel since he was about eleven and we worked together for a while back in the 1970s. Probably the most ardent, passionate and loyal Brighton fan I've ever met - and a damn good laugh as well. Lost touch a bit since I moved to Brighton but I'll be praying for him.

Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!
Can only reiterate what's been said by all above.
Get well soon Nige, and get some new eleastic in those shorts.
An absloute classic Goldstone memory.

Awful news Sid, me old mate Nige small in stature but with a massive pesonality. Known him since our days playing footy and general bad behavior as members of the (VPM) Victoria Park Mob in the late 60s early 70s and when playing he always said he was Alex Dawson.!! He is loved by so many and disliked by none and his antics over the years are Albion folklore. As stated by others his dream come true mascot appearance at fans united and klinsman dive into the north stand goal was hilarious.
Have not seen him for a while as do not live in Worthing anymore so Sid please pass on my best wishes to Nige and a speedy recovery from Cliff Allen, my sis Maxine and my Mum and Dad. thanks Sid and best wishes to you to mate.

Sad news Sid.
I haven't seen ferret for a few years now but you can never forget a guy with a personality like his. I bet he's enjoying the free food in hospital, he was never too keen on paying for things. Better warn the nurses when he's mobile again.

My thoughts are with him, and i hope life has been good to you as well.

Can't say I knew Nige, other than to chat with him about the good and bad of the Albion, usually in a pub at an away game or in Slappers in Worthing after a home game.

Thoughts are with you for a speedy recovery.

Lol.

I remember Liam Brady trying to turn him upside down to shake the change out of his pocket.

Get well soon little Nige, pop in and see you soon when you're up to it.

LMFAO,was on the 1st Gulls Eye coach, away to Shrewsbury, when he decided to get naked, and wear a tescos carrier bag, whilst parading around the coach.

I remember that day well. Someone threw his underpants out of the skylight of the coach and they became entangled in the windscreen wipers of the police car that was following as part of our escort. They couldn`t get them off even when they turned them to fast. Not sure I`ve ever laughed so much.
It didn`t clean their windscreen that`s for sure.

Just popped in to see him.

Still got that cheeky glint in eyes, seemed quite chipper.

Loved the Charlton result.
