Surely he just plays out his contract and finds a new club in the summer? What purpose is there in going on the transfer list?

Perhaps he feels betrayed by the club he feels he has given very good service to, and is making a point that he really is unhappy staying at the club any longer, and thus is looking for a loan to then be converted into a permanent move?

I personally reckon he was told "one year, or nothing" and chose nothing.

Say we are going to go for promotion next season. Is a 36/37 year old Nicky Forster REALLY going to be part of it? (I am not against Forster, its just a question)

To me it shows that we are going to have a massive overhaul in the summer yet again and get some highly regarded players in, in a bid to be in The Championship in time for the first day at Falmer

Utterly baffling.

1) What's the sense of it?

2)Why the f*** is he not even being offered a contract? Even if we have another or even two quality strikers lined up, surely he's worth keeping as a squad player. He's a very regular scorer in a relentlessly shit team.

Very disappointing.

I personally reckon he was told "one year, or nothing" and chose nothing.

Seems from his quote more like the club are following a tradition of doing f*** all during the season to tie their best (for that read expensive) players up.

If it's just that Poyet doesn't see a future for him here, fair enough but the club should be telling him that they won't be renewing his contract.

Who knows if the club are stalling or Poyet doesn't want him but it's all come to a head in a Micky Mouse/Tin Pot Club manner. No suprise there at all then.

This is f***ing stupid  offer him a contract, if Forster goes out on loan this season, as may be the case, we WILL go down. He has scored 15 goals in 30 games, forget his age, he is absolutely vital to the team.

This situation is almost like the Dick Knight days, we are offering f***ing El-Abd a contract and not Forster. He may be 37 next year but he is having his best season for us so far. Forster is capable of being part of a promotion chasing squad, Dickinson, Hart, Davies and Holroyd are certainly not.

We lose Forster we also lose Caskey, the best prospect since Barry, Sidwell and Zamora put together. Offer him a contract for f*** sake Bloom or whoever decision it is. We are trying to remain in this division, we need Nicky, and we don't need all this disharmony what with both of the strikers handing in requests this season.

Jesus Christ this club can be a mesmerizing, f*** witted joke sometimes.

Much though I wouldn't want to see him go, as much for the way in which he sets the standard at the club for how a model professional should approach his career as his goals, even if the majority of players with us seem to have learnt little or nothing:
1. I think the club has been absolutely spot on in the way in which it has managed the playing budget for several years. What do people want, that we end up like our nearest and dearest, in administration or just about to go down the plughole
2. I think NF has made no secret of his desire to move into coaching/management. The appointment of Gus and Mauricio has put the kybosh on that at the Albion
3. Looking at his recent performances, I think his powers are waning. He looks tired and has lost that element of sharpness which was so valuable at this level. A hungry young striker a la Zamora would be ideal (and before anyone says it, the last thing you could say about Murray is that he is hungry - on the pitch); let's just hope it is Holroyd.

He has been out of form since the Walsall game, maybe too many games in a short space of time, and Poyet has seen that time is catching up with him?

Also look how desperate we were for the club to chuck a contract at Whing (player of the season) and Hart (player of the run in) and now look at them....

This is to do with money. Cant blame forster for wanting a longer contract than we are prepared to give him but despite his service to us I wouldnt be offering him more than one year, if indeed this is what hes been offered, (its all guesswork).

Hes been good for us but at his age with his current form i would have my doubts about a 2 yr plus contract so hes asked to move in case someone will give him 2yrs or more. He`ll probably get it from someone but if we are serious about promotion and bringing in better players then hes not gonna be good enough, especially (despite the odd good goal) going by his recent form on the pitch and his age.

Can we afford to be sentimental STILL? In the past managers and the board have been blasted for carrying players, Hinshelwood is the obvious one. Whilst Forster is a BIT different, is he really worth offering another year? Do we REALLY think Forster is the man to take us to the Championship? What if Forster wants 2 years? Should we just pay him that too?

I have full faith in Poyet and Bloom, Poyet must have assurances that in the summer the money will be there as certainly from what I have seen, Forster has been well respected under Poyet and played a big part, so it would not be an easy decision to do this.

No-one deserves an automatic contract

Unbelievable. Where would we be without him? So short sighted. At the very least he should have been offered a year and perhaps with a coaching brief attached.

Our transfer policy under Bloom/Poyet appears to be without any strategy or thought and is seriously starting to worry me.

Where is the experienced centre half we badly need?

With Calderon, we now have three recognsied right backs with Hoyte and Whing both in the reserves. What's the point of that?

We have a very good left-back in McNulty so what do we do? We go and sign another left-back. Where is the left-sided midfielder the team desperately requires?

And Holdroyd may or may not be " one for the future" but we don't need "one of the future," we need another pacey, goalscorer now.

It's a mess.

The question you have to ask is are we going to sign two or three strikers better than Forster in the summer?
If we do that is more than good business, it's a miracle. Firstly, there aren't that many around, good strikers are the hardest players to come by and the most expensive. Also with any new signing you are not guaranteed anything. We paid a decent fee for Davies and a bigger one for Dickinson, look how that's turned out.
Keeping Forster around just makes sense, when you rebuild a squad it has to be done from the bottom up, so even if Forster couldn't be part of a promotion chasing squad (I'd dispute that anyway) then he's worth keeping because all the other players we currently have are worse than him.

how much does a 26 year old equivalent to Nicky Forster cost??

- Answer a lot more than we have spent on a player for a long long time. Im sure the club have a plan and i hope this is a case of Forster jumping the gun over a deal when the club wanted to wait untill the summer, The fact of the matter is we need to be focusing on the present starting with Orient tommorrow and i dont like the thought of going there with a disinterested or not starting Nicky Forster.

People do go over the top

As I said before, he cant actually be transferred anywhere........the window has shut.

As for a loan, only if the club wants him to go on loan. I cant see it anyway. His wages would be too much for most clubs in L1 and its a doubt he would make the step back to Championship level.

So he cant go be transferred and doubtful of a loan. So whats his point? Can only be contract in the summer. If he wants a 2 year contract on similar wages, then his having a laugh. Yes, good player, but he is getting older and not worth that. Certainly a year one.

Whatever, he will be scoring goals for Brighton to a) win a new contract or b) alert other teams for a switch in the summer. Whateverm nothing chamges for this season for the Albion.

Seriously, its gone meltdown over a player who is getting on and who may want the earth. We should be looking for players like Ricky lambert, Lee Barnards of this world if we really want to be anywhere near playing in the Championship in 18 months time.

If its true, then its Forster who is the daft one, not the club.

Presumably he'll be looking to bang in some goals for the rest of the season. Who's going to want to sign an ageing striker who's gone off the boil? Everyone's a winner.

Bollocks, bollocks and more bollocks...

I am not being sentimental in the slightest. Face it he is one of our best players, open your eyes, at times he carries the team, 15 goals in 30 games doesn't lie.

How you can compare him to Hinshelwood I will never know:shrug:He is our top scorer, not just a "bit" different. Everyone apart from Murray is pony, Are Dickisnon, Hart Davies and Holroyd championship strikers?

And the point to end all points, WHERE are we going to find a younger 20-30 goal a season striker that want's to play in a shit stadium under disgruntled fans for a year that costs less than 1 million?

We can't just replace Fozzy this easily. The man is a legend, he should be treated with more respect and regard than this.
