I went.

You didn't miss much

.......................... Unless you have any liking for Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds in which case you missed out on a f***ing SUPERB gig. New album followed by a good hour or so including 'From Her To Eternity', 'Your Funeral My Trial', "Stagger Lee", a particularly violent take on "The Mercy Seat', 'The Ship Song', 'Straight To You', 'Oh Children' and 'Deanna'.

Accompanied by a string section and a choir of kids.

Bravo

Lucky f***.

God. That does sound bloody excellent. Good for you. I must increase my efforts and get a ticket for the album launch gig proper.

I can only imagine how good this was.

Out of interest- how did you get to go.

I serve beer to / am friends with people who do stage work/ own a local recording studio that Cave and Warren Ellis use.

Sometimes being 41 years old and barely clearing minimum wage has an upside.

Friday night was one of those times.

Oh Children!

The take on "Your Funeral My Trial" was disturbingly tender and sweet sounding ..... very creepy. "The Mercy Seat" was as brutal as I've ever seen him and 'Oh Children' was sublime.

............ and I made a prat of myself by mistaking Dave Gilmore for an old work colleague.

a good night.

A couple of friends of mine went to the gig. They'd been sniffing around for tickets and couldn't get anything, so turned up on the off-chance, expecting a big queue and kerfuffle outside.

As it turned out, it was quite quiet. One of them vaguely knew the promoter on the door - "Any chance of watching the gig...?" "Yeah, come on in..." - who just ushered them in.

Their review of the show was pretty much the same as Pevenseagull's. Oh, and it had a free bar, apparently.

As misses go I have this down as a major one. There is a small clip on You Tube and it looks similar set up to when Grinderman were there in 2008. It was not a free bar that evening though.

Just bought some tickets for the tour proper.

By the way, my wife went to one of the album launch gigs last night. Said Cave was in tip-top form and very playful. Ship Song was the stand out.

I love Ship Song.

Have you got tickets for the one of the UK dates? I am planning to go to one of the London ones but they dont appear to be on sale till Friday. Do you know of a pre sale link at all?

A friend of mine saw him on the seafront doing that clumsy English male changing-into-a-pair-of-trunks-behind-a-towel thing a few years back. Was very amusing.

It's a very small world - I spoke to HT about this and he confirmed it was another friend who told him this but I was also there that day and saw it too. And here's the picture of Rock God, Nick Cave in his swimming trunks that we took.

He's got a very Antipodean physique going on there. There's always something entertaining about seeing a rock star, in sunglasses, who you usually hear growling about genitals and the apocalypse, walking world-wearily into that milkshake shop in the North Laine in a suit.

Fantastic. And yes it is a small world.
