We put up with an awesome service from southern rail due to the fact we love the Albion. Not sure people love Brighton, the town, enough, to warrant the inconvenience.

People have been traveling in their numbers to Brighton for decades if not centuries. I can’t see a car ban changing this significantly.

The vast majority of matchday visitors to the Amex work around it quite happily by using public transport and P&R. Why not try and expand the Albion's successful experiment to the town as a whole?

Good idea.
Park and Ride would need to cost next to nothing and offer a regular service though. Would need more than the current Withdean option at the moment.
I wonder how many supporters would use the amex park and ride if you had to physically hand over a fiver per person each time?

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. People DO love Brighton, a lot, for all sorts of reasons. Depriving them of the right to swan around the town in their two-ton personal lump of metal wouldn't change that very much, I'd suggest. Especially as it would make the town WAY more agreeable for everybody else.

I dunno, a lot of their suggestions seem decent ideas to me (the homeless bill of rights could go either way, but the comments section on the argus seem to be taking it to mean tent city and have focused mostly on that).

Like Corbyn, most of his suggestions seem decent. It’s just a shame he is utterly useless at what needs to be done to get them implemented.

I agree about loving Brighton. My favourite town/city. However the public transport would need to improve significantly and become more affordable for this idea to work.

Why do people always assume car drivers are lazy and entitled. My son is disabled and cant travel by bus. For him to enjoy days out etc we have to travel by car. There are lots like me for whom a car is vital.

Work colleague lives in a flat in Lambeth....bought an electric car...doesn't have a garage and in on the second floor. Only way he can charge it is to run a lead out of his bathroom down the side of the building and over the pavement and connect to his car.

First time he did it, some scroat pulled the cable out..he persevered, and after a couple of weeks, he received a knock on the door. Local enforcement officer from the council, said he couldn't dangle the lead over the pathway. He asked how he could recharge the car and the officer said " we have no plans to make charging points available to people living in flats and he should have found that out before he bought the car".

He ignored the " advice" and received an enforcement notice and a threat of court action if he did it again.

He is trying to sell the car!

There is an argument that they are a elitist experiment as they are still hideously expensive and difficult to charge unless you have the infrastructure to do so...i.e. Houses with charging points built into them.

If more public transport busses etc are converted and lorries, vans and taxis are all electric then the councils will have to provide charging infrastructure...of course, they should be spending that on more pressing things like social welfare etc,.


I would have one now if they were not so expensive though as my diesel is killing everyone seemly even though when I bought it it was the cleanest thing on the planet according to the gvt
