We are trying to be Covid secure in our business. We have gone full on face masks for anyone not seated at a table, we’ve already had 2 customers that have said they are exempt from wearing masks, youngsters not the usual complainers, but, they had left their exemption credentials at home, ( honest)

I turned them both away , they weren’t happy, but, what am I meant to do?

Excellent move.

I have never held with this exemption idea anyway. Even if wearing a mask causes "anxiety" tough shit. Wear a mask or stay at home. If a mask or similar doesn't suit then wear a plastic face shield. It only takes one of these people claiming exemption (whether they are really exempt or not) to have the virus and dozens of people are put at risk.

If HMG has evidence that wearing a face covering reduces transmission risk EVERYBODY wears them when and where required. End of.

I'd be amazed if GCHQ didn't have the wherewithall to track and trace all of our movements anyways, long before covid was a thing

Maybe they do, but I prefer to not package all my movements up into a nice one-stop-shop of an app. At least GCHQ have to work a little bit to find out my movements and check a few of my apps

All things considered, I’m comfortable with my approach.

I may just be stupid but its not clear on google play that its the right app to download - 1.6 stars and the reviews suggest this is the trial/beta app not the actual one

I downloaded the app, thought I’d give it a try in Sainsbury’s West Hove. I walked in, couldn’t see the QR reader so asked the girl on the door where it was. ‘oh that track and trace thing? No we haven’t got one’! Well I can’t believe that, but it dampened my enthusiasm.

No, I think you've got the right one.

In the Play Store I believe it was the IoW trial and the updated version of the app (dated yesterday or today) is the one for everyone.

This is the link anyway: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.nhs.covid19.production

Unfortunately it was always likely that a certain demographic of our society would leave bad/1-star reviews in volume as soon as they could.

Downloaded it just now. Right thing to do. I do wonder whether those who have said that they wont download the app, are really being honest about their reasons? After all, we live in a world of facebook, other social media, stores cards, credit cards, shopping habits which are all gathered. Unless you are using 80's technology and pay everything in cash - the cat is already out of the bag.

Im no fan of this Government, but its not a political thing. Its a community thing. The right thing to do.

Same goes with masks - went shopping last night. Mum and daughter out, no masks on either. I hate wearing the things. My glasses steam up, its not particularly comfortable. But, so friggin what. Its the right thing to do, so just do it.

Really infuriates

Including Tory MPs on trains I assume ? That said I assume they're excluded in a similar way that Special Advisors are excluded from lockdown rules.

I went to the NHS site in the end which took me back to that and I downloaded it. It would help if they just re-launched as a fresh one in the app store rather than overwrite the beta version as I would guess most of the one star moaners were for the earlier version.

Its day one. Not every outlet will have poster on day one. Besides, its more useful for restaurants/pubs. Its an iterative process, each day good responsible outlets will have these posters. Its in their interests to make things easier for them and their staff

I'll refer to people like HT ( see his post above yours ) about data use and equally people who don't appreciate that the app hasn't been properly tested.

It's all getting very snide and bitchy now. No consideration of other peoples circumstances. Citizens spying on citizens. How very communist.

its been in testing for over a month Newham and for some time before that in Isle of Wight. it doesnt store data of about where you have been, only a list devices in proximity in the past 14 days.

The gestapo in nazi Germany was in fact a very small organisation in itself. It relied on citizens grassing up their fellow citizens - as you suggest above - citizens spying on citizens. However, I'm not sure you would describe nazi Germany as "communist" would you?

"Citizens spying on citizens" is / has been used by regimes at both ends of the political extremes both communist and fascist to instill fear in the populace and exercise tight controls on the activities of the people.

The next step will be to have the army out on the streets and heavens forbid we end up with that scenario. We tried that in the north of Ireland for decades and those of us of a certain vintage will remember that that didn't exactly work well.

All football clubs (at certain levels) were instructed to have them up starting today. The notification was received on Monday I think. You can expect glitches.

I heard on R4 the other day that army on the streets has been discussed and is being considered.

1984 here we come.

apart from the relegation bit.

Instead you just post your movements, what you’ve had to eat/drink and where and what improvements you’ve made to your rental portfolio on here [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
