I think it all depends on how many players we sign. If we get rid of 10 and sign 10, then we are going to take a few months to gel and not be challenging from the start. We are then asking for a massive good run to catch up with everyone and get promoted.

If we only sign 4 or 5 at most, that doesnt involve tinkering with the starting 11 we have now too much, then there is more chance of gelling. Obviously we need to get rid of the deadwood again, but massive change, I feel, might backfire. Then again it could work and everyone is a winner

7 out, 5/6 in I reckons. Only one or two new faces in the starting 11.

I'm not sure that many player will be signed unless Gus feels that they improve our team. I would expect most signings to be in the starting line up as we hope that we will get promoted and if they don't play next season then they probably won't play in the championship.

It all depends on how many of the loan/short term player Gus keeps for next season. He has already expressed a desire to reduce the size of the squad but it also seems fairly obvious who will not be offered extensions to their current contracts.

Either way next season's season ticket is a must for anyone out there who doesn't currently own one, for 2 reasons. firstly we will be winning a significant number of games and secondly it will mean you can book your seat at falmer about 3 months before the general public are allowed to

(New Keeper) fighting PB and FDM for #1

Calderon and Painter to stay. El-Abd and McNulty as cover. Virgo and Elphick as starting CBs. (Tunni as cover)

Bennett, Dicker, Crofts, Navarro, Lua Lua (Season long loan) plus (New Midfielder)

(New Striker), Murray, Holroyd, Dickinson (Yes I want him back), Forster

Goodbye Carole, Hawk, Hart, Davies, Smith, Cox, Wright

I mostly agree but i think brezavan should be no 1 based on his last few perfomances so maybe bring in a young keeper just in case but theres no point splashing out on someone we dont need

If Swindon stay down (which im sure they will) getting paynter will be a real possiblity moneys no issue and most people can see were gunna be up there next season so why not????

See edit, if we have this 10million that has been mentioned by a lot of 'in the know' people, that is the sort of quality player we should be looking at, I don't want 14-15 players out/in again, just 4-5 very good signings in the key attacking areas.

I couldnt agree more as we cant afford "gelling time" and with gus in charge i dont think attracting talent will be that hard.

Why would he want to leave Swindon for us?

I'd be amazed if we can attract a 15 goal a season midfielder. Not ruling it out though with Gus and Maurice in charge!

Hendrie? Ok I don't really think he'll get 15 goals (I was probably being a touch OTT there) but it's still a clear indication of the quality of player we will be looking to sign in the summer.

Lets wait and see who we sign permanently in the summer, and then how they get on. You could say us getting Robbie Savage last year was an indication of the quality we were after  The signs are promising though.

For one reason we have a much brighter future ahead of us such as falmer and we can afford to splash a bit on him as getting a real goal scorer is the main thing is we wanna go up next year.

I’m afraid to say that almost half of Paynter’s league goals have been penalties this season, still a good player but a 25+ a season? maybe

Wouldnt expect either Gus to go after Paynter or if he did Paynter to want to come to us. If he leaves Swindon he will not go to a higher club but makle a sideways move to another League 1 side with aspirations to do ok and perhaps reach the play offs, unlike us, whose aim has got to be automatic promotion.. I would hope that we are aiming higher than him with the likes of Billy Sharp and Aarron McLean in our vision.
