Nandy comes across well, but still wants to tax wealth for the sake of it. Long-Bailey trotted policies like the green new deal, i bet she hasnt a clue what it entails. im not convinced they really know why they lost so many seats, or what to do to change it.

All 4 candidates on BBC2 now on VDerbyshire. I see/hear nothing to change my personal view that Lisa Nandy is the strongest candidate.

See was the best of the bunch on Newsnight yesterday.

Honest and consistent on their reasons for the GE disaster, how they move forward and very strong on LP anti-semitism. The others gave the impression of copying her, in a proverbial 'dick waving' contest on how they're going to equally tough or tougher on anti semites in the LP. Soundbites.

A shame that Nandy's an outsider.

10 more years for the Tories if she wins.

I honestly don’t think they care.

More interested in an inexperienced left-winger to spread the word than a more sensible Centrist who has a chance of giving the Tories a run for their money.

Chuck in a bit of self delusion about why Jezza lost the last election and you’re done.

This. I talk to a few mates who are hard-core Corbyn etc etc. Rarely does getting the Tories out of Govt. feature in our chats.
More about upholding out of date, deluded socialist principles at all costs. I just don't get it or their motivation.

Very interesting how quiet this thread has gone now we actually get to the bones of what each candidate is offering, and the likely policy direction they'll take. YouGov has Starmer likely to win the leadership in the first round. This could be a very interesting result to those that think Momentum has control of the party, or that it is unequivocally gripped by a fanatical left. Far from it it would seem, as the poll has Starmer ahead on almost all catagories, men/women, young/old, social grades etc. The only section that has RLB ahead are the Brexit voters, perhaps for obvious reasons.

As has been pointed out at least twice on this thread, only about 10% of Labour members are members of Momentum. Its influence is way, way over-exaggerated.

Funny how you guys are now seemingly gloating that the hard left are behind in this election. Let’s hope that Starmer does win so that Labour really can offer a sensible alternative. In reality I think it will be a close run thing.

The not so famous five candidates have been confirmed. Great to see so many women representing all types of diverse backgrounds and regions applying for the top job hoping to become Labours first elected female leader .... obviously the middle-aged, middle class, Knight of the Realm, North London man will win though :lolol:

I can see why so many female Labour politicians are keen on ALL women shortlists .. :D

I'm not gloating or saying who I am behind. I haven't said I would be backing Starmer or not. I'm just pointing out the polls and therefore the mistake of believing the media propaganda that Labour is run by Momentum.

The story has died as it has with an almost complete lack of interest from the media.

With 5 years to go before Starmer or anyone else gets to the crucial poll, and just 200 MP's, no one here is scared of any Labour opposition.

As a non-Momentum type and swing voter, I was hoping for Starmer or Nandy to win. Burgon will be a liability as deputy (endless gaffs, he's awful when under pressure), I hope the deputy is cut of the same political cloth as Starmer or Nandy.

Raynor favourite for the deputy position. The story hasn't died for anyone with any real interest in politics.
