Could you give an example of when it's been done the other way around?

I don't remember anyone kicking up a fuss when Russell Crowe played Noah.

Whereas, a black elf?! (Elves being...fictional....of course)

The internet explodes.

Also, you seem to think I'm referring to you, for some reason. I'm not, I'm referring to the insane alt-right/incel fellas online, who hate anything not straight white male.

I haven't seen the film, but there have been images of a whitish Noah for the last thousand years. What is Noah supposed to look like?

I can think of one example - Sscarlett Johansson played a cyborg in Ghost in the Shell. I remember a lot of Westerners thinking it wasn't right, but when people in the streets of Japan were asked about it, they broadly thought it wasn't an issue. But if the character should have been played by a Japanese person, and fans don't like it, I'm on their side.

I've no doubt there are plenty of other examples of 'whitewashing', but I'm not already a fan of anything that's been damaged by it. Others will be, and I'd support their view that actors should faithfully represent the character in the story.

No I didn't think you were referring to me - my previous post was saying I didn't think it would be much of a problem having a non white Bond. However, I don't think it's correct to think those who would prefer a white Bond are alt-right racists.

Noah, if real which is pretty questionable, would most likely have been brown. As the story goes we should all be his descendants, and since people have different skin colours, he must have had some kind of variation of different colours in his gene pool.

Most of our top spies ( or their top spies) have been gay and that is why I’d like to see James Bond camped up a bit…
Oh yeah Kim Philby, Donald Maclean, Guy Burgess, Anthony Blunt, John Cairncross and a few more.
No reason why he can’t be black or transgender either.

He’s not a spy. He’s an assassin.

I don’t care if they have a black/trans/gay/female Bond. It isn’t something I’d be interested in much bit then I’ve not been interested in Bond much except for Craig’s version and a few of the Brosnan ones.

I’d be interested to see how they tackle his back story but they have to figure out a way to bring him back from the dead first.

I think it’s had it’s day really.

If it’s going to get altered beyond recognition with PC dogma, I’ll swerve it. Prefer Bourne anyway.

Isn't Bond just a code name? At least that's what I've always assumed it was, otherwise he'd be about 100.

Then again I grew up catholic and always assumed transubstantiation was to be taken as a metaphor not for real so maybe Bond is meant to be the same person all the way from Dr No in 1962 up to now.

Moore was a clown.
Always enjoyed Moore much more than Connery, maybe because that's who I grew up with. Connery was so one dimensional, frankly with only one exception I find all his film roles absolutely dreadful. Outland is the exception, but probably in part because the brilliant setting reminds me of Alien.
They've done the Bourne-Bond with Craig so I'm not sure where they can go now. I'd agree a gay Bond could be an interesting twist!

007 is the code name.

James Bond is the man’s name.

World’s worst “spy”. Goes about telling everyone he meets his name. Twice.

I think they’ve just ignored the age thing.

All the novels are set in the same era, the films are always set in contemporary times.

I reckon they should make a one off, retro Bond film set in the 60’s.

Get down and gritty, cold war stylee.

He's genuinely meant to be the same guy?! That's just madness!

And Bond is his real name? Not even a fake one? I'm surprised he lasted 60 years before getting killed...
