When you've already been on the best BBC sci-fi programme, why would you take a step down?
I would. But he may have more class (and money) than me

Weren't there rumours recently that Olly Alexander (from the brilliant It's a Sin) was being eyed for the role?
Hugh Laurie, can do serious and comedic really well.
Rege-Jean Page would have the good lady wife watching Dr Who for the first time ever!!
Some of the methods of investigation are sort of scientific, and its certainly extremely far-fetched. But I am still not sure I'd call Death in Paradise 'sci-fi'?
Hilarious all this speculation, whoever gets the gig, it won't even be broadcast until 2023! We are more liable to have a new Prime Minister before a new Doctor.
As for this all this " showrunner " cack....all they need is a good writer.
This has got Alex Scott written all over it, hasn't it?
Richard Ayoade pleaaaaseeeeee...
Richard Ayoade pleaaaaseeeeee...
Or, the other Scott....Andrew.
Here is my wish list (noting that I don't really mind who it is as long as it isn't . . .see second list)
Chris Morris
Meera Syal
Ralph Brown (come on!)
Art Malik (would be my favourite - lovely voice)
Aden Gillett
Paul Manderson (can he act? I think perhaps he can)
Sophie Okonedo (although I think she's been in it before as Queen Liz the tenth)
Mawaan Rizwaan (Mrs T's pick but I concur - he's hilarious, and a gay muslim - what's not to like?)
Tim McInnerny. Come on!
Raza Jaffrey (Great in Spooks)
Miranda Raison (Great in Spooks, but too much a straitforward upgrade on Jodie gurner)
Richard Armitage (OK, he was also in Spooks, but what a voice)
Lenny Henry was in the second to last series. He'd be fine.
Steeve Coogan. Longshot but you just know he'd be amazing.
Robert Smith, but he has to do it as Robert Smith of the Cure, and say 'Love Cats' a lot.
I concur with a previous suggestion: Richard Ayoade
It had better not be any of these:
Any actor currently or recently on Corrie, Eastenderies, Casualty, Love Island, Blanketty Blank
Michael Mackintyre (Mrs T will burn the TV and the house and defund the BBC)
Ant and Dec
Lulu
Ade Edmondson (love his early work, but...)
Rob Brydon (actually....hmmm....perhaps not not)
Jack Whitehall (insufficient gravitas)
Bill Bailey (too tall)
Martin Freeman (too Watsony)
Micky Flanagan (too funny)
Dawn French (no special reason)
