It's not just "stupid" at all - this is calculating and could even be called "evil" if you wanted. They'd have known deleting voicemails was interfering in a police investigation into a missing girl, yet did it anyway to sell some more papers.

You can blame the NotW yes but also blame the people who will continue to buy it. Frankly even the Sunday Sport has more credibility now.

Who in their right mind would buy such a shit paper with an IQ of more than 50 ? If people just boycotted it they might have to start thinking of putting some actual news in the paper. Some guy on R5 today went off the deep end about how immoral they were in their phone tapping but then when asked what he reads on a Sunday I'll give you one guess at to what he said.

There will always be people like that, those who see it as their divine right to read gossip and shite about their favourite stars, papers like NoTW will always have an audience. Their sales may dip for a while but when the next z-lister gets caught out getting their leg over or a rugby player shoots a work experience girl with a catapult they will be selling copy like hot cakes.
