If it wasn't for the fact they were missing some players on international duty they would have been all over us.

The only mistake Newcastle made was to prepare for a supposed "free passing" Brighton side who didn't turn up.

A lucky deflection saw us through......

Have you tried Prozac?

I kind of agree. I was a little frustrated by our performance. We defended admirably but either lacked belief when we had the ball or tried to do a little too much. We had a great spell after about half an hour when we really passed it and stretched them and the second half was an improvement, but we were still lacking our usual sharpness. BBC stats say that they had 14 shots against out 6, and 56% possession, although they carried very little threat.

On a positive note, we've suddenly got a knack of winning games. Roll on Tuesday.

Must be a very unhappy sole.

Ben Arfa, Gutierrez, Guthrie, & Co (top class players that the media have lauded all this season) were not allowed to play by team that fought like dogs, and we carried a threat with our own sweet passing game.

A single goal either was probably going to decide it, and we took our chance.

18,999 went home very very happy, and there was also you.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear, that was the assessment of the game from some Newcastle fans I met at East Croydon station.

Personally, I thought that was one of the best games performances I'd seen in a while (and definitely my most enjoyable in ages), but what the hell do I know after a few pints of Harveys.....

SEEEAAAAGULLLLS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bring on the Palace.

Sorry, for the wind up but I could not believe that assessment of the game. Seriously, had to post it on here.

Would you like a unicycle to help you with your frantic and rather desperate backpedalling?

Are you trolling or pissed? That was one hell of a performance from the Albion. Yes the Toon have some key players missing, but we played magnificently today and deserved the win.

And if w weren't missing Noone, Lua Lua, Vicente, etc... we'd have had the run of them. If their player got a red for kicking El Abd in the head, etc... All ifs and buts however, at the end of the day we won.

f***ing get in there!

Sorry, it was actually the assessment of the game from some Newcastle fans on the way back (as explained above). Couldn't believe it.

We matched them man for man and were phenomenal.

I think when we played deep it gave Newcastle the illusion they were doing better than they actually were. And then we had Buckley who had both the pace and stamina.

Manchester United had the edge against Liverpool but they got undone in worse way than Newcastle. When we pressed we were winning the second ball more than I ever seen.

Sunderland fans watched the game to see Noone destroy the Mags, they said.
