[Football] Newcastle singing Emery as manager... or not

Like most managers unlikely to ever coach a top club he'll probably be interested. While I'm sure he, as someone who has managed in the PL, got some money in the bank I think he would struggle to say no to secure the future of his kids, grandkids and grand-grandkids with a fat Newcastle contract.

Howe would jump at it.

He only needs to keep them in touch until the end of the window and he will fancy himself to do that.

After that with new riches the brief then becomes to stay up which odds in his favour with a good window.

This buys him more time and another transfer window.

If he can then get them top half his CV is improved and worst case is a multi million pound pay off.

Don't think hes the man to get the next stage but could see it working all ways.

Good job for someone like him

I think this is a pretty brave comment!

But I think this is the next stage for us. To thump someone. All these years in the PL, we've had the odd 3-0 and 3-1. Possibly a 4-1, I can't remember. But we've never stuffed someone. Not properly

I'm not saying this will be Saturday, just that if/when it does happen it will be a significant landmark for us in being an established PL club

Effectively we thumped them twice last year. pretty much the most one sided 3-0s you will ever witness

Big potential for a banana skin, way too much confidence on here, no doubt GP will not let the players feel the same…I hope

Newcastle haven’t won this season, who’s the go to club for stats like that?

Are you sure that anyone who was a member of the Socialist Workers Party, and was a member of the Labour Party under Corbyn, and, as far as I know is still a member wouldn't want to work for a regime that bombs children and kills journalists? IIRC, they were great fans of Chairman Mao at one time ............. and the older ones were fans of 'Uncle Joe' before that.

And Aung San Suu Kyi was one of their heroes for a while too, wasn't she? Maybe it's just that left wing murdering dictators are OK, perhaps?

PS. No, I wouldn't expect CH to accept the Newcastle job - or to be offered it.

Rather a lot of whataboutery and aftertiming, there.

My old boss who's 81 now was a member of the communist part in the 50s. He lived on the Isle of Wight. When Stalin invaded Hungary they called the local party leader to a meeting to discuss. The leader started giving platitudes and the local membership literally ran him off the island (and most of them then resigned from the CPGB). My old boss thinks Boris (and Corbyn) is a wanker, and he is a multi millionare now. You live and learn, innit.

Telegraph extract…….sums up the current leadership pretty well……

The public nature of the snub is a huge blow to Staveley, who was front and centre of the recruitment process. She is effectively on trial to see if she can run the club day-to-day on the owners’ behalf. Having done well to identify Emery as a target, to lose him in such a way does not reflect well on those involved.

There is one word that has been consistently used to describe the consortium that has taken charge of the club: naive.

They are making too many errors in judgment. They do not understand football and how the game works, both on and off the pitch, and it is that lack of football experience and expertise that has created such a confused and disorganised launch for the new regime.

“What looked simple from the outside looking in, quickly turns difficult and complicated when you are on the inside,” one well-placed source said.

“They have not run a football club before, they do not have any real football expertise and they do not know how football works. They were caught completely unaware and have lurched from one problem to the next.

“They do not really know what they are doing and it is starting to show. It’s all very well saying what you are going to do and what you want to achieve, it’s another thing actually doing it or knowing how to get there.

“That is what has happened the last few weeks and it is very sobering for those involved.”

The Saudis have put Staveley on trial? I didn't think the Saudis did trials? I thought the main man (you know, the one that runs the sham shell that owns Newcastle and pretends not to be Saudi Arabia) decides you are guilty and sends a hitman to kill you and chop you up.

Unusual for them to let a girl work, let alone in a big job [emoji23]

Not a bad appointment to be honest. Think they’ll win now at weekend

So we went to Liverpool and nearly won, yet at home against Eddie Howe and a pretty average Newcastle we’re going to lose... seriously? Bounce or no, we are a match and more for them... I actually believe this will serve to motivate our boys, whereas we might have taken a ‘rudderless’ team lightly and had one of our flat performances.

GP will be aware of Howe, will plan accordingly and deploy an attacking team primed to strike at their soft underbelly.

2-0.

Typical, they'll win on Saturday now, comfortably. And before any of the fairies berate me for being negative - I predicted a 2-1 win for us against Liverpool. We're always that team that give away points to teams on diabolical runs of form.

There are narratives that still works for us:-

'well if he didn't already know how bad it is, he does now'.
'Newcastle will be thinking it can't get any worse'.

Etc.
