Sobering, hope the guys ok. Plenty of isolated incidents like this get reported at European football matches. We mostly hear only about the ones involving English clubs fans but doubtless there are plenty others, as has been mentioned earlier. One thing to take into account I guess but I imagine the vast majority of our fans won't run into any issues

Yep, something like 5,000 Newcastle fans in Milan and one bloke gets stabbed late at night in the city. Of course hope he's ok and one is one too many, but let's not poop our pants here.

I’d imagine for the home games the away fans will be kept back, as is the tradition in Europe for a 30 mins or so and they will be “bubbled” back to the station.

Failing that I look forward to the classic one way system adopted in the past!

Was just looking on the club site to see if there was any info on this and nothing so far. Assume they'll be held back for a while.

AEK FC informs that all our fans who have purchased tickets for the match against Brighton in England on Thursday (21/9) from the special platform of AEK FC, will receive their tickets electronically today (19/9).

All our fans who have registered their presence at the stadium through the Original 21 club in London, will receive their tickets from the club's representatives in London and Brighton.

We also urge our fans who will be at Brighton to pay close attention to the information below. Please note that the times that will be mentioned are self-evidently English hours.

The local authorities require all AEK fans who will be in the stadium to use coaches starting outside The King and Queen, 13-17 Marlborough Place, Brighton BN1 1UB. The coaches will transport AEK fans directly to the stadium.

This point is the meeting point for AEK fans who will go to the stadium. It will be open to AEK fans from 12 noon, while coaches will start transporting them to the stadium from 17.45. The King and Queen pub will serve food and drinks and will be exclusively open to AEK fans until they leave for the stadium. The police will be present there at all times.

The coaches will go to the stadium in multiple convoys, with a police escort. Fans must be at the point before 17.45 when their transfer will begin. The transfer to the stadium will take approximately 30 minutes.

AEK fans' tickets will be checked before boarding the coaches.

Attention: For serious safety reasons, AEK fans who hold tickets should not use alternative ways of getting to the stadium!

AEK fans should remain in their seats for at least 30 minutes after the end of the match for safety reasons. During this time they will normally have access to toilets, food and drinks from canteens that will be available for them throughout the time they remain in the stadium. AEK fans are kindly requested to be patient until permission is given to leave. Please note that in canteens payments are made only by card.

After their departure, the exact same procedure will be followed by which they will have previously come to the stadium and return to the original meeting point.

AEK fans who intend to carry banners to the stadium should be aware that it is mandatory to have a certificate that the banner is made of non-flammable material. Otherwise they can't put it on the pitch. Banners with political or racist content are also prohibited. Drums are also not allowed.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

This is the kind of thing that makes me nervous for what might happen if there’s a Luton-esque train meltdown at any of our home games
There’s a contingency that’s been implemented, this shouldn’t cause a problem.

Hilarious, is it some EUFA requirement that the travel advice of clubs makes the places they are going sound as dangerous as possible? As if there would be serious safety issues with a few AEK fans getting the train to the ground instead of a coach...

Ooh I'd love it. Pub of choice back in the day*

*the day being when we were 17 and needed somewhere that would accept our fake IDs. And then as the prequel to 80s night at the Gloucester. And New Years Eve, year after year, a litany of nights there before vomiting in someone's garden. Ah, memories 😀
