Not the same player. Andy forbes plays for Eastleigh in Blue Sq South, so little chance of being top scorer in the BS Prem.

Or are you talking about Fleetwood?

That's Fleetwood

29 year old Forbes has previous experience at

wait for it

Winchester City

I know which one we're likely to get

Having seen Fleetwood a few timesI can say, yes he is good. But like all players he thrieves on a certain style of play. His goals come from his speed & the through ball played to split the defence. One on one with the keeper & he is deadly. It's no good playing 2 wide wingers & floating crosses in for him. Do that & he is ordinary. Gillingscum want him to play with Adam Miller [stolen from us] who would suit his style & supply the feeds.

Forbes has turned down several offers to play league football in last few seasons, one before he joined Eastleigh from Winchester.

Has a very very well paid job, and is well known that he doesn't want to jack it in for only a few seasons of pro football at most

Is not the most mobile player, but is someone who has a eye for goal and good finsher. Would prob fit Deano's player profile as can also play in midfieldor at centre half.

As good as he is in BS South would be disappointed if that was a serious target

from Eastleigh's site:

Andy Forbes – Top scorer for Eastleigh last two seasons. Arrived at ten Acres in August 2004 from Winchester City. Won the FA Vase whilst with Winchester and also the acclaim of Non League Player Of The Year by the Non League Directory. Previously played for Reading and Andover. Manager of an Electrical Wholesaler. Born in Reading 28th May 1979.

I think at 29 to take a drop in wages (probably) and potentially lose 20 years of decent earnings just to be able to say you've scored against Port Vale isn't too bright a decision.

although this only a rumour how can people come on here and slate players already. This is getting stupid, how many of you have actually seen either of these two play.

we have plenty of untested players in our own ranks , why go after these when we blatantly need some experience up front ? in the summer possibly , in january .... no way

'Ones for the future', no doubt.

Haven't we been here before ?

What would we do with either or both of these two - put them in the reserves alongside Loft and Elder in the hope that they'll come good in a couple of years time.

FFS !

Having also seen Super Stuart Fleetwood (as he is commonly referred to in these parts) play a fair few times now, I concur with this comment, he is brilliant at the through ball and can make most central defenders and the keeper he beats look pretty ordinary. However, he isn't dominant in the air, being of only average height and build he just doesn't have the muscle to win the ball from the type of defender you see in Division 1.

In his last game on New Years Day he spent the first 75 minutes with barely a sniff of the ball, for most of it he was chasing shadows, it wasn't until the team tactics changed that he had a chance on goal...this resulted in a glaring miss from about 5 yards out, though it has to be said that the ball came to him at a difficult angle.

I have also seen Andy Forbes play this season, he isn't a bad player, plenty of pace and ability but we would need to have signed him about 5 years ago to see if he could cut the mustard in Division 1.

As has been stated, Gillingham have already put in a decent bid for him, while Cheltenham have also been sniffing around (possibly as a front to quieten down their relegation-concerned fans).

Cheltenham would have one advantage over us, primarily that it's a lot closer to the village where Forest Green play.

Would be very surprised if he ended up with us, as there are bound to be plenty of clubs after him.

Cheltenham made an offer.
This is pure nonsense. We probably ARE interested in Fleetwood- but if were weren't interested in someone who has scored 30 goals by Christmas something would be very wrong. Being 'interested in' is VERY different to signing.

Colin Gardner, the Forest Green Chairman, published a statement on the club website yesterday stating that no formal bids had been received for any of their players, this was to allay the fans fears that a player (or players) may be about to depart. Apparently Stuart has made it known that he wants to stay with the club for the remainder of the season, clearly the Board of Directors may have differing opinions, he is still recovering from a serious illness that almost finished his career and currently lives with his mum in Gloucester.

Apparently 21 scouts (football not boy) turned out to watch him play against Droylesden just before Christmas, unfortunately he was sat at home with the flu, gather they weren't particularly impressed.
