just had a text from a good source saying we are looking at 2 non league strikers

one is fleetwood from forest green, the other is some guy called forbes from eastleigh!!! have heard of the first one but never of the 2nd one. This guy is the same guy who told me we had signed Forster and when I broke it I got slated only for forster to sign the next day.

I would be very surprised if we signed the striker from Forest Green, if he's the one banging in goals left, right and centre.

Would be nice if we did though, but can't see it happening somehow.

Andy Forbes at Eastleigh is a decent non-league player.

Gillingham have already made an offer 'well in excess of £100,000' for Fleetwood.

Forbes is the one we were interested in when Jason Dodd was here during MMs reign. I thought that he turned us down. I would think that he is older than the usual non league signings probably mid 20s. I would be happier if you had said it was a Div 2 striker with prospects rather than another non league player. Will somebody please remind our back room staff that we are in the Football League not the Rymans League,

Forbes scored against Boro on Saturday, then two more at Basingstoke on Tuesday. Decent player, but hardly a 'prospect'.

everyone is looking at fleetwood at the moment (if we believe what we read).

Cheltenham (FFS) have had a £100,000 bid rejected, Gillingahm's second bid was reported as "much higher" and they FGR are expecting "a flood of offers".

I think rejection of a 100k bid will be the end of our interest.

If Forbes is still playing non-league at 29, I'm inclined to think he's not really got what it takes to make it in League football. And christ knows we've already got enough of those in the squad.

As others have said, probably every club outside the Premiershite is looking at Fleetwood............knowing us we'll end up with an ageing drummer from an ageing rock band!

Gloucester born striker with league experience with Cardiff City and Hereford United. Joined Cardiff at the age of 12 and went on to play 5 Welsh U21 Internationals. Joined Hereford in 2006 and soon made his name as a prolific striker, including scoring a Carling Cup hat-trick against Championship side Coventry City. A serious virus illness sidelined him for most of last season but he expects to be amongst the top-scorers in this seasons Blue Square Premier.

sounds like he spent too long at cardiff:lol:

Not the same player. Andy forbes plays for Eastleigh in Blue Sq South, so little chance of being top scorer in the BS Prem.

Or are you talking about Fleetwood?

Forbes has turned down several offers to play league football in last few seasons, one before he joined Eastleigh from Winchester.

Has a very very well paid job, and is well known that he doesn't want to jack it in for only a few seasons of pro football at most

Is not the most mobile player, but is someone who has a eye for goal and good finsher. Would prob fit Deano's player profile as can also play in midfieldor at centre half.

As good as he is in BS South would be disappointed if that was a serious target
