[Albion] New rules for purchasing Guest Tickets

Guest tickets are something that generate a lot of threads on NSC as STH try to work out how to buy them. I couldn't find a thread about the new guest ticket rules that were emailed out on the 4 July to STH (and know a lot of people here never seem to get club emails) so here they are:

We wanted to let you know about changes to buying guest tickets for the 2024/25 season:​

Because of a new Premier League regulation, all guest tickets are required to be assigned to the actual attendee. Your guests can be supporters already on your friends and family list, or new supporters you add (they don’t need prior purchase history). We’ve aligned season ticket holder and MyAlbion+ guest windows, meaning you’ll benefit from an earlier guest window shared with MyAlbion+ members (subject to availability). All supporters will only be able to buy their own guest ticket allocation. For example, if there’s a one guest ticket limit per person, you’ll only be able to buy one guest ticket in a transaction. If a friend or family member wants to buy a guest ticket, they must login as themselves to do so. Given a rise in demand for tickets, and an almost 50% rise year on year in MyAlbion+ membership numbers, we’d advise that your guests become MyAlbion+ members, as this gives them the best chance of getting a ticket and be sat together in a group. THE BENEFITS OF THESE CHANGES ARE:​ We can help fans more quickly and efficiently on matchdays by knowing who will be attending and where they'll be. We can continue to grow our fan base by having more people registered who want to attend games. The registered guests will also now gain purchase history for any tickets assigned to them and they'll be able to buy tickets in their own right. We can better tackle touting and away supporters within home areas of the stadium. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?​ If you have guests you frequently buy for, we suggest you recommend they register now, and add you to their friends and family. We’d encourage them to also become MyAlbion+ members for the best chance to secure a ticket. You'll need to let them know your fan number and postcode as they need these along with your surname to be linked to your friends and family. Forward them this email or send them the link below for a guide to how they can set up an account and link to you ahead of the new season.

So the biggest changes are you can no longer buy guest tickets on behalf of another STH and each guest ticket gets allocated to the actual person attending rather than the STH which was the case before.

Putting it in the name of the person attending makes complete sense. I wonder only being able to buy your own guest tickets is to stop resales? Did someone buy guests for everyone on their F&F list and then sell them?

we do seem to make it awfully hard work just to support our team. Especially trying to attract ‘new’ fans to get them into the stadium rather than on their sofa. It all just seems a hell of a lot of hassle for an (overpriced) ticket.

DOn't think any of that is particularly hard work, just a few clicks of a mouse. Think it is good us STH can buy a ticket for a guest with no purchase history usually ahead of those with purchase history. That's a great way to get a new fan in the stadium.

This - no drama for me here, particularly as it's a PL rule now anyway. Been far more complaints about the ease of getting guest tickets for any Tom, Dick or Arsenal/Chelsea supporting Harry that wanted to watch a game.

Not A+, just registered members (so no fee)

No, the difference is all guest tickets will be named on purchase so reduces touting as previously a STH or Albion+ member could buy a guest ticket in their name and were therefore free to pass (sell at profit) to anybody

As long as it costs nothing to change the name on the ticket should the person you have bought the ticket for be unable to attend then I'm fine with it.

However, I'd rather the club find a way to actually fill the waves of empty seats at some games. Perhaps by allowing STHs to resell their tickets earlier and by proactively prompting STHs to resell their tickets if they are not attending.

And wouldn't it be great to see the club allow us to donate tickets to people who are out of work. Lewes do a scheme through a local food bank which allows you to purchase a ticket for someone who can't afford the entry price themselves.

You're think of passing your ticket on rather than buying a guest ticket. If you want to transfer a ticket the recipient needs to be a MyAlbion+ member.

Do wish the exchange tickets were on sale before the club has sold all their tickets. Often the last tickets to sell are in the least desirable locations (right next to away fans or the like) but the tickets available through the exchange are often in great locations. The club still make money on the sale (more than if the season ticket holder was turning up) so not sure why they don't.

Why oh why can`t STH simply give ticket to friend or family member when they can`t go. too simple and wouldn`t make club more money is surely the answer !!

Surely EVERY ticket was traceable in the past. If I purchased a ticket, as I have, for a mate to attend a game with me, it was in my name.
Now that ticket will be in the name of my mate but still traceable I guess back to me.

Traceable to the STH, but that doesn’t meet the new PL regulation.

So the club acknowledges that the home end is for home fans only. I'm sure there was some uncertainty about the policy on here recently. Let's hope any big six plastic ****s get chucked out consistently next season.

Don't be silly, an unemployed person isn't gonna spend big in the club shop.

Group of three oaps prob miss two/three games per season each so cost us £60 to share. Loads of hassle for £15 refund per game and may get some knob next to us. or have empty seat next to us. Think it`ll be empty seats.

I agree with the sentiment, but there will still be big six plastic ***** who are registered and obtain their tickets perfectly legitimately.

As if it’s always that easy!! How many times have I heard that from someone in IT?!! The seamless fantasy digital world where it’s all so quick and hassle free “Just…” “Simply…” etc.

If it's only two games it's not worth paying the annual sharing fee - your first share is free and last season a single share was £8 I think
Your refund is what you pay for the seat less £1 - how much would you expect back

Well, that is made harder if the club shop is continuing to sell BHAFC tshirts to away fans on matchdays so they can "disguise" themselves in the home seats. I would like to think that has been stopped now but it's all just £££ for Barber and I've never seen any official announcement from the club that it has been stopped.

(Two groups of WHU fans wearing WHU match or tee shirts coming out with half a dozen BHAFC cheap tees and handing them out to their mates to put on. Obvious they were WHU fans; different had they not being wearing WHU shirts; impossible to identify them then. But they were!)
