New Palace Manager

I like Paul Hart, and before anyone claims he's never done anything, he did a great job at Forest - really turned them round. A job that Davies is reaping the benefits of now.

Hmmm, that seems to be a bit of an over-egging of the role he played there. I think he was a bit like Wilkins there, in that he'd bought through the youth team, and because they were in financial trouble the youth team were all promoted to the first team. They finished 16th and 6th in his two seasons in charge, and then went on a streak of only winning 2 of Hart's last 22 games (including going without scoring for two months!). Kinnear kept them up that season but they went down to League 1 the year after (from where the revival really started).

He then subsequently failed at Barnsley and Rushden. So not really one of life's great achievers!

*note: all of the above is stolen from wikipedia. I don't have THAT much of an encylopedic knowledge of football.

There's more than a touch of Danny De Vito's Penguin from Batman about him - but I'm not clever enough to upload pictures.

i actually really rate hart and i think given time he could be very good for palace however time is something palace haven't got and as a result they may indeed get relegated.

Well, its certainly in the doldrums.
Why are we mocking Palace about this appointment? I wouldn't be suprised if he keeps them up.

By the seaside in West Somerset
Ambrose to QPR
Speroni and Danns will probably follow through the exit door within the week

Hart is the affordable option and he isn't a bad manager but without time or resources it is going to be mighty tough to keep Palace up.

The only good thing is that there are some f***ing awful teams at the bottom of the championship all of whom seem determined to go down (Plymouth/Sheffield Wednesday/Peterborough). Only Wednesday have a chance to stay up IMO but the way they are playing at the moment ..............................................guess it will come down to who has the toughest run-in fixture wise.

news (of Hart's appointment) "broke" on here at midnight last night

Well his infectious enthusiasm, boundless energy and sunny disposition might see an initial upturn I suppose.

But can he maintain it ?

Having said that, he isn't the type I'd have chosen for the battle that Palace face. He has a bit of a 'hopeless' demeanor when things are grim, that must instill no confidence in those around him.

snigger. that's a bit of stretch, no?

Anyway, his strength has always been at the academy level. That's it. Man-management at the top? Forget it.

Don't think it matters who is boss there they are going to lose a few players out on loan and he will have a bare bones squad to work with
