If the position is to go "in house" I think Dean Wilkins should be given a chance. 20 years involvement with the club and undoubted coaching ability. With Bob Booker behind him it could work.

I don't have a problem with that although I suspect that DK would use it for the right manager's signature on the next 'worth less than the paper it's written on' football manager's contract.

I wasn't all that keen on the long ball part of Steve Coppell's and Micky Adam's reign, but worst than that was the percentage play stuff. There was a whole era of British football was spoilt by the percentage play influence.

There is something in it though, Steve McMahon's side played the ball around a bit, without actually getting anywhere. If you have possession of the ball the other side cannot score (this is the theory), but it backfired in the most obvious and hilarous way, by the own goal.

Is Coid another Kerry Mayo. Was it better than Kerry Mayo's thunderbolt against Hereford?

Leaving out all the Manager's influenced by the shit period in English soccer: I don't go for Lawrie Sanchez (He is just another Jimmy Melia, Pat Saward?), Steve Cotterill, as my pet dislikes for style, a style that may be rather similar to Steve Coppells.

With Jo Kinnear this was an earlier era, but I cannot get that awful performance in a vital promotion match at the Old Den out of my mind.

You can add the following to the list:

Dave Merrington: ex-assistant Manager at Walsall.
Liam Brady: something to do with Arsenal.

Even worse choices would be:

John Gregory,
John Gorman
Glen Hoddle

They persisted with the flawed 5-3-2 wing-back system long after it had gone out of fashion, and it was always such a badly flawed system that even Brian Horton and Micky Adams eventually dispensed with it.

Trevor Francis: he never really succeeded anywhere. Nearly but not quite. Not as good as Steve Coppell?

I remember one of his teams at Birmingham coming down and winning 1-0 at the Goldstone. Looks like there was something missing in all his teams (missing the Charlie Oatway factor?).

Q:

If DK signed Lawrie Sanchez as Manager, would you think he has lost track of reality? (I would)

Might include Bobby Gould, is he still at Cheltenham to the long list?

Another name could be Jean Tigana ex Fulham. He has just settled an un-fair dismissal case with Fulham following his sacking by Al-Fayed earlier this year.

Don't think he has another job at the moment, but may be wrong!

Ex Fulham managers who fall out with Fayed seem to do well at Brighton!

Jean Tigana was on £125K a month a Fulham. I don't think he is on the cards, even with Falmer.

A lot of these high flying Managers would be better as Directors putting money in instead of taking it out!

Not the real one
Why are some of you plumping for no hope managers like Dowie Sanchez and Kinnear? These are not the sort of managers that we need. We can attract bigger fish. I wouldn't be suprised if DK pulls out a gem again. Personally I'd like Clough as a new up and coming manager. Or lets just pinch a manager off another club like everyone else does to us.

Glenda won't come here - he thinks he is God.

Don't really see how the Colchester, Torquay or Forest Green managers are in any frame.

My top 3 Choices other than SC to stay are:

Danny Wilson (if he came he'd be coming for a reason i.e. to stay)

George Graham (well no prem club will offer him anything so earning some salary is better than earning f*** all - downside is we just put him back in the shop window.)

Liam Brady (could come back - bored at Arsenal?)

Sven is making noises about returning to club management..................

errrr just suppose that there's a "riot" in Istanbul on Saturday night. UEFA throw England out of the european champs on Sunday, and SGE carries out his threat and resigns..........................

BHA call a press conference on Monday morning...........:lolol: :lolol: :lolol: :drink:
