PS: Here are the minutes from the Planning meeting that approved it. It will always shut at 11pm apparently.
Don't the minutes actually say (item 9) that the doors will be shut at 11pm to keep noise levels down, rather than the fanzone itself shutting at 11pm?

No chance. He’s not popular with the powers that be.
Which makes it even more sickening, if it wasn't for Dick and Martin we wouldn't be where were are now. They laid the foundations for our club, saved us from oblivion and to say DK isn't popular with the powers that be, leaves a horrid taste in my throat.

Even though most have come to that conclusion over the years, look at Dick bar for example. Now flagging away in the north stand temporarily, till it gets moved upstairs in the newly refurbished club shop and will feel more like a sideshow!

I guess we don't, and will probably never know, the full story. I'd say, looking at TB and his actions thus far, he isn't going to have agrudge unless he also feels he's been wronged. What did TB do during the DK years, we don't know. What was DK after when TB came in and dumped millions into the club?

If you have shares in a business worth say £10m, and someone dumps £300m in your equity is going to be worth virtually nothing

The full story will never come out, we just have speculation and hear say. I love and adore Tony like the next person, but I just fear sometimes we do forget who made us the club we are at times.

Pretty clear that DK wanted to retain control after saving the club (in conjunction with MP and the community). They did the hard miles, year after thankless year. Must have been deeply galling for DK to be powerless to prevent TB swooping with his cheque book off the back of a global financial credit crunch. Simple tap-in for the boy Bloom. No wonder DK is bitter

I thought it was moving to a North stand 1901 lounge.
Did I misunderstand that?

Except Bloom was putting quite a bit of money into the club before he actually bought it. I can't remember the year exactly (maybe 2005-ish?) , but I happened to bump into Martin Perry and had a chat and he mentioned that TB was paying some (or all) of the players' wages at the time.

FBS was also reported to be an investor at the time. Pretty sure all of that is true. DK would clearly have been well aware and would have happily taken money from all-comers to ensure the club didn't fold. What DK couldn't have foreseen was the global financial crisis that - sod's law - hit shortly after the planing permission was granted. It left him in a fatally weakened position to retain control. At that point, cash was king and he was swept aside

Odd then that there appears no ill will towards Martin Perry from TB and his board.

Another way of looking at is is that we wouldn't be where we are today without the money TB has put into the club. For certain we would be up to our eyeballs in debt to financial institutions and look how well that has turned out at other clubs!!

I suppose that’s the difference between a marketeer and a financial wizard. Thanks Dick, and now Tony.
