Will be interesting to see what it's actually like - I've a feeling it will just be a massive, lairy sports bar, which will appeal to some but by no means all of the fanbase. It would be good if it has some quieter, cosier corners where it will be possible to hold a conversation. Dick's was a bit anodyne, but at least it was possible to have a chat in there.

Not really. At some point the marketing fantasy has to give way to the reality of a winter evening match. Unless you live within easy walking distance of the fanzone or implicitly trust the trains - never a wise move - or are an easy drive away, then you just want to get home asap
I agree wholeheartedly on the frustrations many feel and experience. I said it on a thread earlier this week that it feels like there's be a significant shift recently where a lot of season ticket holders have given up on evening games, and that's not great.

I love being at the Amex to watch us play. I get pissed off with getting to and from there, and I've also missed the odd game because I simply think "I can't be arsed with the hassle".

But The Terrace isn't and wasn't intended to be a panacea for all transport woes, which is why rubbiishing it feels somewhat harsh to me.

Im sure if they announced that they would be showing Minteh's overhead kick clearance attempt on repeat on the big screens people would forget about the private Amex area and the queues for the trains would be sorted as people stood in the fan zone mesmerised by one of the greatest things the Amex has ever seen.

I'm not quite at the 'not bothering with evening games' stage, although I have skipped a few. I travel from London, so getting from Falmer to Brighton is just the start of my journey home. Half an hour in the queue and you do start wondering why the **** you bothered, especially if we've lost. If we ever got relegated to the Championship and we were playing, say, Burnley at home on a freezing evening, it really would take a massive effort.

Sadly I don't think the Terrace will make any difference for evening matches.

In the fly-through the usable floorspace on the ground floor looks to be about the same size as the cut-out above. The remainder of the space, to the left of the image below seems to be kitchens, back-office, staff areas and customer toilets.

But, it's all a guess based on the fly-through which may not be a true representation.

And, aside from all that, I have no doubt it's going to be a fantastic addition and enjoyed by many.

I have no issues with the Amex area - many fans have these cards already, and others can easily get one if they so wish. Frankly, if you buy a few pints and a pie most matchdays, you'd do well to have one anyway for the 10% savings.

I'm curious if any attempt will be made to ensure people inside are actually using it properly and spending money, and it doesn't get full up with the kind of people who'll nurse a Diet Coke for two hours to stay in the warm, when outside there's a long queue of folk who'd like to buy a few pints.

Won’t be long before the Barber Cams like the West Lower Tap are deployed. Imagine there will be a countdown from last drink purchased coded into the interjection scripts

Brighton factually.....
well that's me fecked, I don't have any friends never mind one with an Amex card....
hang on I can get a Amex cash back everyday card (no charge/annual fee) does that count or if you have a gold card you get to closer to the stage and if you have a platinum card Paul Barber MBE serves you a marmite sandwich and a free bottle of mountain dew ?

i am somewhat at a loss as to why so many people on here seem to have a massive chip on the shoulder over the Terrace. There was nothing before, this looks a great addition for those who want to use it, no one is forcing anyone to go in. It was never meant to solve the transport issue, it was designed to fill the need for an area outside the stadium for fans to have a drink, meet up etc, and hopefully lessen (not solve) the transport delays

Of course the club want it to be profitable, but whats wrong with that, again no one is being forced to use it.

Even if it doesnt improve the transport issues for the trains or Park and Rides , it doesnt matter

The club have done something that fans have been asking for ever since the stadium opened, and all people seem to want to do is complain about how it wont solve every problem under the sun

Let the bloody thing open before complaining about it

The club are not responsible for getting you sat in a train carriage on on your way ten mins after the whistle goes- like it or not the stadium is where it is, Southern Fail are crap, and have been for the 11 years the stadium has been there- get over it

Well according to most away fans at every match they are very complimentary about the Amex facilities. On many occasions they refer to our library which is perhaps where you should convene to for some quiet time and hushed conversation. :lolol:

F*** me! Don’t ruin it. This thread is on a par with all the moaning and groaning from all the whiners when the stadium was being built. Some people will just whinge for the sake of it. Those that are whinging about the Terrace will probably never set foot in it anyway.

True - the East Upper is perfect I guess.

Not really 3 trains worth though, is it? If you were going with the seated capacity then maybe but the way people are shoe-horned on and the mix of 3, 4 and 8 car trains, 2 seems much more likely.
Yeah it was more of a back of a fag packet calculation, but either way, 2 does seem significant.

You also seem to be making an assumption that the people who will now go to the Fanzone aren't the ones who already staggered their arrival from the ground, staying behind in the concourses. I am not convinced it will be that significant.

Anyway, says a lot about the motives of modern day Albion that what should be a thread of excitement about a swanky new bar is full of nonsense about credit cards. What a bizarre move. Sigh.
