So, just beacuse you don't want to watch something, then no-one else does ? I don't watch many of the footie games either, but some people will want to, it's their choice. I don't know how old you are, but you preferred it when the only live game you ever saw on TV was the cup final ? I don't know if you like the prem, but if you do, Sky has basically paid for all the top players to be here, without it I doubt we'd have a league in the top 5 in Europe - given that we'd have mostly British players playing here. I don't like Murdoch and wouldn't dream of buying any of his papers - mainly beacuse they're crap IMO, but I don't have a problem with Sky - I choose to pay for it.

Age is not important here, and your absolutely right if people want to pay for it that's up to them, personally I love watching the Albion but I don't care to much for other games on TV, match of the day suits me but each to their own.
What I object to is needing to purchase Sky Sports and probably all 4 channels at that as they will switch it around each week, in order to watch something that has always been available to the masses on normal tv, loads f people will now miss out as a result of this.
I don't really think that sky sports money into football is so much of a good thing either ? clubs paying ridiculous fee's and wages as a result, the gulf in class getting bigger ect ect.

Wish it wasn't on the BBC at all, it ruins Sundays.

this. worst sport ever. what a load of nonsense!

also, anyone blaming the BBC for this is wrong. They are powerless to sky and with the cuts which are going round in all sectors, the Formula 1 coverage should not be top of their agenda when their aim is to provide a public service.

i was pissed off when channel 4 lost the england test matches. that 2005 ashes series was incredible on C4... but then so were the 2 ashes series that have been since then and channel 4 coverage was soon forgotten about.

it'll be the same with BBC. Sky are probably lining up Jake and Martin Brundle to continue anyway along with eddie and david coulthard. the only downside is the adverts, just hope theres none in the race!

Sky have done a lot for sport and its a case of the rich getting richer again. but thats life.
According to sky editor on thieir comments page races will be shown uninterruped -no adverts thank christ.

I'm absolutely livid.

I don't have Sky, I never had Sky and I never will have Sky.

No sport is safe when Sky want it and it seems everything has its price... but if people didn't subscribe they wouldn't have the money to buy up everything.

I love the F1 coverage from BBC, it was one of the bastions of premier sport that Sky didn't have a handle on.

Utter fucksticks!

My thoughts exactly... though may have gone for a triple 'Utter'...

There are so many people on here banging on about SKY....probably a lot of bullshitters as they have SKY in their house....

I have absolutely no interest in the Premier League so don't feel the need to pay Sky an exhorbitant amount for the privilege of watching maybe 3 or 4 games a season that might interest me. Now if Albion make the top division I may well reconsider.

I get pissed off with the rugby union being on sky and will miss the F1, so if they put together a package that just covers those two I may subscribe as long as it is not £35 or so a month.

In an ideal world Albion will be in the EPL this time next year so I'll be subscribing for the whole shooting match

Sky will destory this, just like they have done the golf. The Masters coverage from them thisyear was an embarrassment, the Saturday and Sunday on the BBC was much better. In general, the BBC are much better at presenting a sports programme. Also Where is this going to fit into sky's schedule, what with all the other live sports on? Is Rugby or Football goingto have to make way?

Rugby league, Creeket, the list is long....

The real reason F1 will be shown live on Sky with highlights on BBC is because of budget cuts. The BBC has to make budget cuts of 20% so F1 was top of the list to go. If you want to blame someone it should be Lord Patten who is ringfencing World Service foreign language programmes once the Foreign & Commonwealth Office cut the apron strings and make the BBC wholly responsible for WS.

Care to explain how u get £840?

Sky World with movies and sports £52, HD £10.25, ESPN £9 .. £71.25 a month.... and that is without multiroom with HD which would be another £20 a month... bringing the total to nearly £1100 a year.

£3 a day... not exactly a rip off... considering the value the 5 of us get from it.

HD multiroom from Sept is only £10 p.m. , the HD tax on multiroom is being scrapped.

Excellent news! I will probably go for that then! Maybe thinking twice about ESPN...

The bad news is if you dont already have a multiroom HD box and want to upgrade from a dodgybox or Sky+ box you wont be able to get the £49 HD box deal which is for customers without multiroom.

This is all about an open market, and sky with the recent profits announced an easily afford to. I think its great, as almost all my TV viewing is on Sky and the majority of it is so more professional. For instance the Golf, on BBC the coverage is now average, and that is for a big event, on Sky even for a standard PGA event it is outstanding, always full of knowledgable pundits - not some old radio 1 DJ who presents idiot shows like dont forget your toothbrush.

And in reply to somebody above Sky will be showing the whole season from what I understand, just some races will be duel broadcast.

I only brought age up, as I don't know if you remember when the only live games were the cup final, that's all - agree, it has nothing to do with anything else.

I do have a small issue with the Sky pricing, as you say, switching it between channels, is rather cynical IMO. As a parallel, my 72 year old mum has just taken up playing golf and is completely addicted and loves to watch it. Money is very limited for her as dad has Alzheimers and costs about £700 per week. We though the Sky golf was always on 2, so eventually decided on her spending £12 a month for it only to find it's split between 2 and 3 - our fault I guess for not checking, but still not good.

How long untill Sky go for ppv for some races?

Ecclestone has said it's fantastic news as more coverage for the sport, I think it will be quite the reverse, less people will watch.

Shame for those without Sky, but they will without a doubt do a fantastic job with the coverage. 3D as well, no doubt.

I quite like watching the F1 down the pub anyway.
