I really feel for the lad.

He's 21-years-old. He's not in his home country. He's been used by agents so they can pocket the biggest wedge for themselves.

Now he's at Chelsea, with nobody around him who really cares for his wellbeing.

He's been used. I hope we don't boo him on his return. Silence will be enough.
He could have stayed with us and continued his development, I am sure someone within the club could have supported him with advice on moving agents if he had wanted or felt they were not acting with his best interests at heart.

He might be naive but he is not stupid and would know full well what his actions and intentions meant when getting his move.

He has left the small pond to swim with the sharks so like potter and cucurella before him I have very little in the way of sympathy.

Besides our fans and what they do or don’t do at the Amex are the least of his worries.

True. I'm just reminding myself that he's a young impressionable lad and he and his family are surrounded by sharks.

Who didn't make stupid choices at 21? I know I did, with long-reaching consequencs too.

If he was so badly advised, and we know he’s being used - don’t we have sone responsibility to a teenager we took from South American , and signed a new contract 5 months ago to not sell him at all ?

He didn’t even put in a transfer request right ?

I doubt he sees a 8 year six figure contract as a stupid choice and it’s what him and his team wanted and have got. With that comes pressure, being under the microscope, criticism and more attention from the stands. That is the price for making that move and he will know that being in and around football for his whole life.

I don’t get all this painting him as some sort of defenceless lamb incapable of his own thought and decision making. Regardless of his agent influence there were enough good people around him at the Albion and experienced team mates he could have (or may have) consulted before making the move.

I think we can all agree that the option Caicedo took may be a poor footballing choice, but he, his family, his agent are all financially set up for life. How many businessmen/women have achieved that at 21 years old?

He also didn't have to agree to move.

It’s how people rationalize to themselves their hero rejecting them. I agree with your summary.

After the Forest game (wherein his mistake allowed Forest to score the winner) I saw somebody call him "concedo"
Well, if any young star comes to the Albion and does a bit well, and is tapped up.....I hope the club have a compilation video of all the crashes and the burns. Not Dan Burns, obviously. He's living the dream.

Didn't someone on NSC say he didn't turn up for training?
