Here's a question. How many AMS members out of that 24,000 have not been to an away game since Cardiff? I'm guessing comfortably five figures. Another reason to renew.

can some one tell me what is the average amount (total) we take to away games
About 800 average this season.
I'd guess it's a 50-50 split between STH and AMS.

The problems arrive when we get a big cup game and a lot of occasional fans come out of the woodwork (closet?).

By renewing every season it's easier when a big game comes up, Those who were'nt signed up to the AMS at least a month before a cup game is drawn get no priorty for tickets,

Yes. I think it would make it fairer.

I agree, except I would make the opening day of the season deadline day. The club would have more money for the August transfer window and there's a chance of a fairly big draw in the 2nd round of the league cup, played in September.

Even better and anybody intending to renew every season could do so by setting up a standing order to save having to send off an application every year.

renewing AMS membership is the way forward, non STH, regular away fans have more chance of getting a ticket for the so called glamour ties.

24000 AMS members to 800ish regular away fans says a lot.

also i think it could be an idea to make AMS half price for season ticket holders, as there are blantantly season ticket holders that wouldnt go to an away game

oh, and of course, 2000 people renewing AMS membership generates much needed revenue for the club

say 1000 STH pay £5 and 1000 non STH pay £10, thats £15k a season at least for the club to use for what ever reason

It has always been the case the STHs were automatically AMS members.

But I do think that renewing AMS membership every year will sort out the real fans from the gloryhunters.

Whilew acknowledging that away fans don't contribute financially to the Albion, there is a case for arguing that they have helped the Albion to more points than they would have - we do have more away points than home points this season, so the away fans do do their bit.

I'm with LB as well but I would make AMS renewable every season and maybe just charge for the admin cost , this will keep it current and up to date with 'active' supporters.

That's not actually the case, the AMS has been free for STH's to join, but they have still had to fill in the relevant paperwork. Any new STH's are not automatically ams members.

Also put me down for a Bas shirt ;)

Imo, there should be a 5-year membership card.

Cost £50.

5,000 available.

On sale before Xmas, so it can be bought as a present. Only serious fans will buy, not gloryhunters.

Card holders then get priority for all away/cup games (or put in lottery if there are fewer tickets) and a discount at the club shop for five years.

Benefits:
1) Club gets £250,000 (minus costs) in the bank
2) Stops arguments over ticket allocation
3) Rewards current generation of fans... when we're at Falmer *cough*

Personally I will be sending my renewal for my season ticket stating the club may only cash my money if they can guarantee STH's priority to away matches. I suggest other STH's do the same thing and we'll see if the club agrees to a permenant change in their policy to support those who put their money where their mouths are when it comes to supporting the club.

Nice to see blackmail back in favour with the financially privileged. So you support the club as long as you get what you want, to the exclusion of all others not able to afford season tickets. Nice. Nothing like climbing over others to get to the top, eh?

My favourite debate and I do feel AMS should now be renewable on an annual basis as 24K members is just stupid.

STH should still have priorty and as much as I like LB and will always have a pleasant chat with himself and Roz I cannot agree with his views on AMS.

Still, maybe the beauty of NSC that we seldom agree but can get on.

I believe that AMS should be renewable each year at the same time as the ST renewals and the ticket allocation for likely to be oversubscribed games 50% to STH for 3 days and then the remainder go on sale to AMS members. That means that if the uptake by STH is only 30% that is all that want to go and the remaining 70% go to AMS.

The allocation for home games should remain STH have the chance to purchase their seat during the first 7 days after that they go on general sale.

As regards Lord B point about wanting to sit with friend who are not STH I have never found this a problem as I have 3 ST and my 3 sons are all AMS and I just apply for the tickets I want at the required time stating who the tickets are for with their membership/account numbers and have not had a problem.

Yes, the AMS should be a renewable fee.

But that CAN'T happen.
Those of us who have paid our £10 have paid for "lifetime membership".

Now i'd be quite willing to ignore this and pay every season. However (judging by the sods who moan ridiculously about every ticketing issue e.g West Ham) others clearly will not, and will insist that they've already paid to be a member for years to come!

A bit of a cock up by the club i guess...

Although there is nothing to stop the club saying AMS is an annual fee from now on, not really that much different to all those firms who have closed their final salary pension schemes - they just said it is closed now.

Or just bring ina new scheme that is renewable each season and place the existing 24,000 AMS members next in line for tickets after the STH and Away Supporters Scheme (ASS?)
