Just seen on the telebox a mock-up of the British flag if the Scots decide to leave The United Kingdom of Great Britain. Sorry have no pics but it is a red cross and red X on a white background with the Welsh dragon in the left hand corner!
It seems up to now Wales has no representive part in the British flag as it is not a country in its own right, it is classed as a Principality (sp sorry police).(thanks Bozza)

So if Scotland decide to stay in the United Kingdom will Wales demand to be included in the present Flag? Always thought that was a good trivia question, what part of the Union flag was welsh. Not many people know.*

If we were to be consistent and make the Union Flag a combination of the saints' flags of the individual nations that make up the union, the Welsh element would involve the flag of Saint David:-

Dragons officially make ANYTHING better, so I'd be all for having the Welsh represented with one, whatever their status technically is.

England and Scotland are not countries either (feel free to argue with this, but you'll be wrong).

An heraldic expert was recently asked what would happen to the flag if Scotland became independent. The blue on the flag was introduced by James I (VII of Scotland) in 1606(the cross of St. Patrick was added later), just over 100 years before the Act of Union, therefore as the current plan is that Scotland would retain the Queen as head of state there is no reason to change the flag.
Personally I like the blue in our flag whether it represents Scotland or not, it’s our flag & if Scots don’t want us to keep it I say sod ‘em, if want it we can have it,

I've come back home.
I thought the diagonal red cross represented Wales.

Wales are not represented on the Union flag as they were already part of the kingdom (13th Century?) before the flag was introduced to represent the union of Scotland and England in the early 1600's. I think the Irish element was added a couple of hundred years later giving the Union Flag / Jack that we know today.
