My only take from all this is that there are a lot of people who are buying away tickets and then either giving them away or selling them

All over twitter and facebook, every game…….

May have missed it but what happens to genuine cases where people have bought a ticket but now can’t make a game ? There are plenty of these (seen on here often too), but doesn’t seem to be any option to return the ticket for resale. Bit stupid if so, particularly for high demand games.

So if anyone wishes to cross out the name that's there and write in a different name, whether in felt tip or otherwise, and swear blind it was the club shop that did it, I doubt there could be any comeback.

Away clubs will not be doing ID checks on the gate. Why would they?
Regarding crossing out your name- on that I couldn't possibly comment!

I noticed 2 empty seats against Liverpool on MOTD. I live 15 minutes from Anfield so I literally could buy returned tickets 30 mins before KO. Need an electronic ticket system which must be a long way off for away games.

I agree. An option to return for resale should be available

Listed my mid week Forest Tickets on the exchange and surprised they’ve already sold.

I am assume it goes without saying that I am not responsible in any way for the attendees behaviour? Having no idea who they are doesn’t fully rule out that I’ve never met them socially before, worrying times

No…..once you put them on the exchange they’re no longer anything to do with you (not the same as buying ST Guest tickets where you are responsible)

You lucky bugger! Can't shift mine for love nor money. I've got people who'd happily take it but as its probably the only game I will share for the rest of the season they quite understandably don't want to shell out an extra 38 quid. It's absolutely maddening. So there will be a guaranteed seat empty in the West Upper.

Pity. With all the travel issues this should to avoid empty seats have been a game that club said can pass ticket on

Entire of WSU full with spurs fans, but remember those who legitimately bought away ticket are the real criminals. Absolutely rammed with them, my mates shouldn’t have to move seats because it’s full of spurs, it’s a shame they are sat in the home end,I could give the club seat numbers, but they don’t care, it would be the third time I’ve complained.

Was chatting to one in the WSL concourse pre-match - he has an Albion+ membership so he can get tickets when he wants. Goes to a few of our games every season.

Yesterdays program notes from PB

Off the pitch, our new away ticketing policy will coming into operation at next Friday’s visit to Brentford. It’s really disappointing that our ticketing and security staff have felt the need to introduce a new policy at all. However, facing systematic and repeated abuse of the loyalty points system, an escalation in unacceptable behaviour, and with previous warnings ignored, we had no other option.

Unfortunately, as in most walks of life, the selfish actions of a small (but not insignificant) minority of people will now, on occasions, inconvenience a small number of fans at each of our future away games. We apologise to those fans – which are by far the vast majority who have respected the club’s policies, ticketing terms and conditions, and the law – but the entirely understandable frustration at the inconvenience the changes may cause should not be directed at the club’s staff.

We have a responsibility to ensure those attending away matches are entitled to receive tickets, and also that everyone in our loyalty point programme has a fair chance of attending games. We also have a duty of care to our colleagues at other clubs who have been on the receiving end of a range of abusive, threatening and anti-social behaviour, and to all travelling Albion fans, many of whom are equally fed up with the actions of people who shouldn’t have had tickets to our away matches in the first place.

As such, we will now take all necessary steps to prevent those not entitled to away match tickets from accessing them (and subsequently damaging the club’s reputation), and we will similarly take all necessary steps to identify those fans ‘gaming’ the loyalty point system to secure tickets only to pass them on, from continuing to do so. Again, we fully appreciate this means we will occasionally inconvenience those not responsible, so we are heartened by the messages of support we have received for the new policy.

We fully appreciate that entirely legitimate situations arise, meaning fans cannot attend matches they previously thought they could. However, the often short timeframes and specific selling conditions for processing tickets to away matches makes it very difficult for us to offer fans the ability to return tickets to us or to offer refunds. We will, however, always try to help where we can and time allows. In future, a move to digital ticketing for all away matches will likely make life easier, and tickets more secure, for everyone.
