Will probably sound like sour grapes, but Brentford is the worst away game from an organisation perspective. Heavy handed, no apparent process, just rubbish
Maybe, like Tony, he didn't want their hospitality. Piss poor from Brentford not to at least let them in fuss free however.Regardless of the obvious politics of the overall situation , Bloom was Nelson Mandela to Knight’s De Klerk*, this is an 84 year old man who‘s dedicated much of the autumn of his years to helping save the club, on nights like this, pardon the pun, he should be putting his feet up in hospitality courtesy of the home club not getting stressed at an away turnstile.
He is, as he rightly points out, the President of the club.
*Change was necessary in order for the club to move to the next step.
That was really cringeworthy last season…..Probably less embarrassing than the "£50 million in the bank; Tony Bloom is having a wank" chant he had to endure - whilst surrounded by family - at last season's game.
Dick Knight not happy
If DK has been made to collect his ticket from BHAFC staff at Brentford, I think it’s embarrassing that the Life President and ex chairman has been made to do this.We don’t really see much context with that video but did Dick Knight really try the ‘do you know who I am’ line ? Bit of an embarrassment as is the fella who recorded it.
If the policy was that soft, everyone would try sneaking in a beer!Brentford stewards were incredibly heavy handed with a few Brighton fans, meaning instant rejection for bring a beer to your seat. It’s against the rules but I don’t it warrants escorting out, just take it away and let them back in.
Makes me think were these fans regulars at football or so off their heads they didn’t realise what they were doing?Brentford stewards were incredibly heavy handed with a few Brighton fans, meaning instant rejection for bring a beer to your seat. The video shows DK at a ticket collection point with a BHAFC ticket collection blue sign, he is arguing with 2 Albion staff members, one in blue top behind the counter and one in an Albion coat wearing a lanyard.Like they said in the video, how are the Brentford Staff / Stewards meant to know who Dick Knight is?
Didn’t we have Albion staff present for the ticket collection, why wasn’t he directed over there?
He loves hospitality, home or away, just not a nice thing to see both a pensioner and someone whose done so much for the club being treated.Maybe, like Tony, he didn't want their hospitality. Piss poor from Brentford not to at least let them in fuss free however.

There has been plenty of occasions where he's been in the away end rather than enjoying hospitality so it's not like its a surprise. While the whole away ticketing thing is a fiasco if it was the Brentford stewards doing the ID checks then they aren't going to know him from Adam so wouldn't know he's the club president etc. It looks like there was an Albion representative there trying to sort it out, but obviously the video only shows the tail end of what happened.
He’s becoming an embarrassment to the club. In his token role of President he should act with a bit of decorum and shut up, not abuse and bully staff with his “do you know who I am” attitude. He loves hospitality, home or away, just not a nice thing to see both a pensioner and someone whose done so much for the club being treated.
You should delete that post. You can't let the facts get in the way of those on here with an agenda!!!!Spot on-ish.
Dick's ticket wouldn't scan through the Brentford turnstiles - nothing to do with the new collection scheme, nor any ID checking. And the close proximity of Albion ticketing staff meant it was all resolved quickly.
Certainly a few empty seats at the start of the game, no doubt there will be some genuine reasons, such as COVID and now unable to pass tickets on.I'm not sure if I can say the exact number (I'll ask and update this thread if so), but the number of tickets for collection that weren't picked up was larger than you'd probably expect due to people having "life events" come up and prevent them from attending.
Given people bought Brentford tickets before they knew about the collection/ID scheme, it strongly suggests that there was a fair bit of people buying tickets for others going on.
