This is utter nonsense.

1) Of course an offside call is black and white. You are either offside or you're not, there is no half-offside. You can argue that the law is confusing but that is the fault of the law, not VAR. Just define it more reasonably.
2) And the technology does support the required level of precision but where it can't make the call for whatever reason, then stand with the referee's original view.
3) Marginal calls didn't just start with the invention of VAR. Have you forgotten all those close calls that were wrongly flagged offside that might have ended up in a goal scored? They used to happen nearly every game. And those goals that were marginally offside but play was wrongly allowed to continue leading to goals? They happened less often, but it's still an injustice that we were forced to accept.
4) Whining about undermining spontaneous celebrations is absolutely pitiful if the right decision can be reached quickly and easily. The clowns in Buckinghamshire seemed to make hard work of that, but this season definitely not so much.

You're completely wrong. It won't be going anywhere any time soon as long as adjustments and the necessary improvements continue to be made to the process.
Is definitely the case that the use of VAR is much more lowkey this season. Begs the question though about where we are going to end up.
If something improves the less you use it, may be its best to not use it at all. Fans at Championship club claim this is the case, a relief to
have no VAR.

If it wasnt for the PGMOL's need to protect their precious, we could try a couple of seasons without VAR and leave it to the fans to vote on it.

I’d agree that "Football is panto. It's intrinsically silly" if I was smoking some weed or doing acid. Everything used to seem, hey, kinda intrinsically absurd, when I was out of my head. Which, funnily enough, was also around 40 years ago. But no, when I have my normal straight head on, I think it’s a fookin' sad day for sport when people get away with such high profile cheating. Maybe you need to have played sport seriously yourself at some point in your life to feel aggrieved. Or maybe you need to have kids, and be aware of the impact of this stuff. Whatever. But it seemed wrong back then, and it seems just as wrong now. We disagree.

All part of the glorious game's heritage. Maradona's cheating was cheating, but outrageous and audacious at the same time.

What is painful is never being quite sure again that a goal is a goal, thanks to VAR. That really is an attack on football's soul.
So if Newcastle or the ball in the net against us and on MOTD next week they're saying "it's a clear handball, I don't know how the ref's missed it", which is your preferred outcome:

1) VAR intervenes and disallows the goal, or

2) VAR by some means fails and the goal is given?

Do you consider Palace's goal against us, where VAR should have intervened but was incorrectly used, to be part of the fun of the game?

The palace goal? I'm over it. Again, It's only football

I'd rather have a more fun game of football that sometimes has errors.....compared to a worse experience which is still making errors despite taking hours to come to that conclusion.

Sport is meant to be fun.

I have kids. I would say having something you care about more than anything in the world helps put sport in it's rightful context. It's SO SO low down on life priorities that it seems mad to me that people are letting it affect them so much and can't let it go. Especially a goal from nearly 4 decades ago.

I had zero doubts about any of our goals on Sunday, so clearly this isn't true.
That's the point, though. No VAR intervention in a memorable comeback victory. All good.

The less VAR is used the better it is, it seems. So the best could be to simply not use it at all.

As in the Championship. This debate is not a hypothetical one.

VAR is here to stay in the Premier League. There is an option to not have it by watching our U21s, ladies(at the moment), lower league and grass roots football. Best of both worlds

No doubt if they got rid of VAR you'd be moaning about incorrect decisions from the first game.

No thanks. It's populist shit. VAR is perfectly reasonable if it's implemented properly. Binning it off completely because the implementers are complete clowns is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. It is amazing how people have forgotten about all those incorrect, goal-defining offside decisions that happened in every single game back in the day.

Just implement it so that it eliminates the shocking decisions very quickly along with offside/goal-line decisions (which really are black and white) and VAR would be perfectly OK.
You’ll be waiting a long time for perfect officialdom :) That’s why I prefer pre VAR.

Spontaneous joy is better than delayed, the moment is gone and VAR murdered the no.1 reason we go.

Get rid. All day long. And anyone who disagrees is just wrong. Even they know they’re wrong. But ego gets in the way of many wrong decisions being overturned.

The offside was called by the linesman!!

Fans have always moaned about decisions, VAR certainly hasnt stopped that.

Its a poor trade off, we still have poor decisions, inconsistency and bias, but
now disruption to the game at vital moments.

I've never understood this argument. I have never seen anyone mute their celebrations just in case. Look at how many goals were celebrated by Chelsea fans before the linesman put his flag up, not VAR. I think i've even celebrated more as ive celebrated, then VAR checks, then celebrate again when given.

Yep. We go to football, sometimes 90 minutes of NOTHINGNESS, in anticipation of maybe that ONE moment of spontaneous elation......and now we need to wait for it to be ratified.

It's really really really bad

People point to other sports using a review system but the issue is these are sports where teams score LOTS of times. A try, touchdown or wicket is obviously a moment, but it's no where near the importance of a goal.

In the rugby PL there is, on average, close to 6 tries a game and tries aren't the only method to score goals. There's also kicks

NFL has around 5 touchdowns per game and it not the only method of scoring. There's also kicks

Cricket is a stop start game with the team needing to take 10 wickets.

Football can be won by a single goal.

Remember when Coventry has a last minute of ET winner ruled out against Man Utd for this? The team had celebrated, the fans had gone wild.....they were on their way to an FA Cup final....and then they show the toenail of a player involved was allegedly offside using the faultless technology. Goal ruled out and united win.

And some fans say this is better.
