He was fighting against a regime which was against coloured people as opposed to some splinter cell fighting for some shit state being freed.

No way should he be classed as a terrorist

google phosphorous grenade old man .........dont get me wrong , i love the guy now but we, as humans need to start calling a spade a spade(hitting the nail on the head ) whatever you want to call it , the facts are that whilst you were sat in your high chair getting fed alphabetty spaghetti, hundreds of british ex-pats were being run off their land and /or murdered. (sadly another fact)

tis true. Him and Walter Sisulu were very honest in their admissions. Despite them being (once) socialists/communists I do admire them.
That's big of you  Better a socialist than a murderous, racist, master race-delusional regime I say :guitar:

I'm good like that. To be fair, the likes of FW De Klerk also deserve big plaudits. One thing I found when living there was that S African attitudes and politics is not just a matter of black and white as we would believe over here. It's not so easy simply to say that they were one thing or other.

Anyway if you want to talk about murderous, racist regimes you could always mention the socialist Zimbabwe.

Nope. You are showing your complete ignorance of the history of South Africa, the ANC and of Madiba in particular. But as I said earlier, don't let simple things like facts get in the way of your racist prejudices.

i would say that i have spent two out of the last 10 years in south africa , so i would say that on this subject you can probably get f***ed .

Really. 2 of the past 10. Well I can beat you. My family have spent 32 of the past 32 years in South Africa so I top trump you so I suggest you go get f***ed yourself dickwad.

Oh, and some of my relatives have spent 55 of the past 55. So I double top trump you in fact.

So double go and get f***ed.

I shagged a bird whose family were part of a group of settlers going back to 1833. What do I win? Also I was sick over a girl I was chatting up in Sandton once. That qualifies me to speak with some authority on these matters.

Jesus buzzer, if you can afford to go drinking in Sandton you can say anything you like.

My brother and I after all only have the experience of drinking in in Hillbrow to go on.

He does also have experience of drinking in the shebeens in Soweto and Tembisa as well but I could never summon the courage to go there with him to be honest.

Fact-People can change, his activities before imprisonment were maybe questionable. But since his release, the guy is a legend and brought peace to a Country that was so divided by prejudice and hate.

I did go drinking in a shebeen in Alexandria once. Stupid and dangerous thing to do in hindsight. Hillbrow went downhill very rapidly when I was there to the point that I didn't go there at all. My mate was shot at with an AK47 once in Hillbrow.

we will need to expand on this one so as to get full value from the argument ........my wifes family moved from cornwall to capetown in the late 1800's , her great, great, great grandmother was commissioned by the humanitarian society to document and take photographs of what they called progeny/indiginy back then ( yes all very white misschief i know ) i first went to s,a in 84 .......loved it , no bother, hitched from capetown to harare and back over 4 months ( this was with a head full,of dread locks btw,so it does rather irk me to be called a racist as i am anything but )i have spent some of the best days of my life in africa, kariba , caboassa boro, vic falls , nyanga, knysna, kruger ..........and also had a look round soweto, mitchells plains , kyeleitsha and cape flats.........madiba is a wonderful man and an outstanding ambassador for the south african people but he was, back in his day ,a very naughty boy........to be called a facist/racist/cock by you cvnts is quite frankly , rediculous.

I watched pretty much all of the world cup 2010 and I once ate some biltong, I think Mandela mellowed into a fairly normal old man but had a chequered past involving violence and murder or at least the sanctioning of murder. It may well have been a good cause but he isn't a saint and doesn't deserve to be hero worshipped and have the worlds tongue up his arse. He has undoubtedly achieved far more good than bad In his lifetime however some of the comments on here from the deny he did anything wrong brigade are rather Ill informed.

Not black & white at all, I'm well aware- I have plenty of friends from the region. And agree completely about Zimbabwe - which is barking mad chaos, rather than bearing any resemblance to socialism, for which I have no axe to grind, just find it dim bizarre to hear it used as an insult on any kind of a par with the appalling regime which Mandela was fighting. So yes, plaudits to de klerk, despite his having come from that racist, murderous regime.
