No...we need a system that feeds the strikers. We hardly had a shot on goal from any forward player tonight , because there is no service to anyone in the box...especially away from home . Suarez and Aguero wouldnt have scored tonight ! Its all very well saying that we need CMS to score 20 goals...... He may score a few at the Amex, but away ?..unless we change the way we play away from home, we are going to score very few goals . And we defended soooo deep tonight in the second half. We just let Swindon come onto us !

Absolutely right! We could sign 10 bloody forwards but they're gonna have to run back to Bridcutt to get the ball or sit on the edge of the box and wait for balls to rain over from the FB's. Gus has to get the tactics right, inject a bit of pace, presence and grit in MF, before we sign every available forward we can find.
Is correct, a striker would have done nothing last night.

We could still be there now, and wouldn't have scored.

Give the ball to CMS in an attacking position, and he'll score.
If he doesn't he'll only have himself to blame.

Currently he seems to the scape goat for our lack of forward penetration, hence 'needing a forward' (unless I've misread the intent of this thread).

We also BADLY need a proper winger fit to replace Noone... Crofts will obviously replace Harley but we also need a replacement for Dicker.

I know this might be a shock, but Barnes should have scored... also, Vicente is wasted upfront... the OP is spot on...

With KLL and Buckley out for the Hull game, it seems that we will have to rely on Noone for width on Saturday. That doesn't bode at all well. Hull's defence must be quaking in their boots.

Jesus its a bit of common sense on NSC.

Well said mate.

Not well said... there were chances... we missed them... but I agree Harley and Dicker made very little contribution, and Noone's final ball was very very poor... why Gus insists on pushing Vicente forward when he has a striker, because that is what Barnes is, available to play is beyond me...

Croft will return and Vicente will drop back to where he belongs... the need for a striker is the most pressing need...

We need to sign the right forward for us, not sign someone in desperation. The world won't end of we lose at Hull.

This has been a fcuking obvious problem since Muzza left a year ago... should have been addressed a very very long time ago... throwing 3 potential points away in a tight div would be foolish in the extreme... yes, we need the right forward, but we need to get a fcuking move on...

This. Unfortunately Dunk/Greer don't seem 100% confident when on the ball with the opposition closing them down. Bruno on the other hand, welcomed pressure and dealt with it.

Yes, and why the f*** El-Abd isn't playing instead of Dunk is a huge fcuking mystery...

How right you are. It's very short-sighted of us to have left the engagement of a striker for so long. Losing at Hull won't be the end of the world but it would hardly represent a good start to the season.

Buckley or LuaLua will replace Nooney, who had an absolute 'mare last night...

To be fair, Noone had MoM performances consistently at the start of last season... he was awful last night, but wingers are inconsistent, and he may just play a lot better at Hull, i.e. improve his end product...

He couldn't do any worse.

Exactly what I thought and I still reckon with this then we might have enough in CMS/Hoskins but accept the fact that we don't want to spend half a season finding out

The prob with a "MF" of Bridcutt/Crofts/Vicente is that's it. Anyone of them goes missing and we're f***ed imo

Spot on.

Its fine letting a team come onto you, when we have CMS, Buckley or Lua Lua in the side as we can get in behind them on the counter.
But we had no pace in the side last night, that always makes things difficult.

Agreed... Also, IF we signed a forward, Vicente could drop back to his natural position to provide the ammo... even if Buckley and LuaLua don't make the Hull game, we should have plenty of creativity... CMS to come back too, so that could ease Vicente's return to our midfield...
