The great British Public.

A lot of people loved IJ 4. Ok a lot of people didn;t but the criticism was over the top. It was a good fun romp with a great character. I think the film will be viewed more favourably with time personally.

I watched some the awards show last night and thought it was one of the most pointless awards ceremonies ever created!

It was shite really wasn't it. Very few big stars were there to receive awards (meryl streep excluded, but that was for Mamma Mia). The film nominations were pretyy shoddy. The Love Guru in category for best comedy of THE YEAR? What? It was panned by everyone. Enchanted, Wal:E all that Disney, Pixar bollocks.

At least Batman got a nod.

US - Were you sending in multiple TV Times voting slips - This looks like your handywork :D

We've had this discussion many times, Enchanted is a quality film as is Wall E.

I thought the exact same thing. I thought it was really weird, it seemed to be the same people and films (obviosuly that's the general idea) but I thought it was quite naff. And I thought James Nesbit was so unfunny.

For you to go on to have any appreciation of films you are going to have to change your mindset about films US. Just because you(and yes, I know, many others) enjoy them doesn't make them quality. In fact just the opposite I'd say! :D

I mean, the vote was left to the public and that transluscent skinned harpee Streep won best female performance for some ropey musical.

That is the most hilariously shit set of awards I've ever seen. Didn't bother watching last night since it's a Mickey Mouse awards with mickey mouse decisions. The whole thing stinks of ITV!

Good films this year;

Juno, The Dark Knight, Sweeney Todd, The Darjeeling Limited.

That's about it. Wall-E maybe.

Agree about Enchanted, best family film (i.e. that all the family, regardless of age, can enjoy) since Toy Story imho.

As for Wall E, the second half of that film was more effective than any sleeping pill I've ever taken, I was barely conscious by the time the credits rolled!

The Darjeeling Limited.

Really wanted to like this film, but have to say it was a total borefest. Far too subtly done. For me the acid test of any film is would I want to watch it again, and I could quite happily live out my years without seeing Owen Wilson's plaster-covered nose ever again. That said, the opening short film with Kiera Knightly, set in a Paris hotel room was top drawer!

My partner feel asleep after 5 minutes. I liked it , it had some visionary cinema in it.

Wall E was shit.

Kung Fu panda was way better.

Do you think so ?. My partner obviously did not like it much. I thought Kung Fu Panda was great to look at but a bit lightweight.
