Noted that the people taken on to advise us were only appointed a few days ago and I understand have no previous knowledge or training.
Would you be prepared to accept their decisions as to whether you required early treatment or just needed to take a couple of asprins?????????????

depends on the training, focused on one topic it shoud do the job. better than having hundreds of trained nurses diverted away from other everyday duties - you do know there is other illness out there?

Have to say I think the idea is brilliant

At the moment we cannot get to our GP without waiting for 2 weeks for an appointment.
The new service will greatly reduce this.

In past epidemics/pandemics one significant issue is that the number of people dying from "other causes" rises dramatically - because people struggle to be treated for anything except flu.

The new service might help to alleviate this and if it does it will have paid for itself many times over.

I suppose one good thing is that the work wasn't outsourced to a call centre in India.:)

Why can't it be automated,
press 1 for list of symptoms continue to hold and give details to get tamiflu.
press 2 for hypocondriacts
press 3 for bird flu, flesh eating disease,HIV and any other illness that's going to wipe out mankind within weeks

ARE YOU ALL f***ing JOKERS? some random people, on the end of a phone line, with no knowledge except for guidelines, who give people tamiflu, which is not proven to help, without even knowing you have the f***ing flu. How awful is that? Don't get sucked in, ddon't give in. The drugs companys are huge. There is nothing to be thought of here apart from them, the private companys making millions and millions through SCARING people into thinking that they need something which they dont.

The key to health is a healthy lifestyle. Be healthy, ensure you have fluids, and eat well. Thats the best thing to do.

You think i'm going anywhere NEAR those vaccines? Something that has PARTS of sheep and pig inside them, which are being tested on 6 people? Your having a laugh.

Disgrace, brings a tear to my eye.

I'm quite likely to be forced to be vaccinated, cause I work in the medical sector and my job is on the A-priority list here...

You cannot be forced, and they cannot sack you for choosing not to. It is a human right, of free choice, and you cannot be sacked for holding up a human right, that's illegal.

It'd more be a case of the HSE (NHS-alike) not allowing me access to any of their premises if I don't. Which is about 75% of my customers....

But you cannot be denied access of somewhere because of a human right you have decided to take?
