But you cannot be denied access of somewhere because of a human right you have decided to take?

Somehow don't think a court will agree with that. Medical institutions are perfectly entitled to deny access to people (that aren't patients/potential patients) on pretty much any basis they want; in this case infection control.

ARE YOU ALL f***ing JOKERS? some random people, on the end of a phone line, with no knowledge except for guidelines, who give people tamiflu, which is not proven to help, without even knowing you have the f***ing flu.

firstly Tamiflu is proven to reduce the effects of the infection. secondly, those random people are only a little less qualified than a nurse, who would also be at the end of the phoneline reading a script to make the diagnoses, which is little more than what a doctor does from memory/training. The script will make the diagnoses.

but if you have no intention of taking it and believe its all a conspiracy from the pharma companies, why do you even care?

you sure about that? Doctor 7 years basic training + years of experience V a call centre person who got the job last week. Diagnosis over the phone of anything is very risky a lot of the symptoms could be something else.

Does diagnosis of flu require 7 years medical training and all this experience then or is it something you would normally self-diagnose and treat accordingly? If the latter then isn't this on-line facility just an additional diagnostic aid?

You don't work with GPs obviously... many of them are either so stressed or so nonchalant about their job that a call centre worker reading a script written by someone with medical training that was paying attention that day has about as much chance of a correct diagnosis.

I was told YEARS AGO by a GP that most patients with flu were wasting their time visiting him. The thing about flu is that it ... er ... goes away.

That's all you need to know.

yes, anything diagnosed over the phone is tricky, even for a doctor. lets assume the script does a good job of filtering definatly not flu/definatly flu/others to refer to GP. the training and experience is for doctors to do the same process from memory, and they arent infallible either.

as for the GP's there is a worry that they are dishing out Tamiflu premptively: take your kid in and they'll presribe for the whole family, or simply prescribing without symptoms for those with known underlying medical reasons such as asthma. the 100k cases diagnosed last week is factually false, its an exageration of the number of doses prescibed.
