Being named as a possible contender for the Villa job in the Birmingham press tonight
He'd be mad to take it - poisoned chalice for a rising young manager.
The Cardiff job may be more up his street

Really? Cardiff are run by an idiot from the far east who has no clue about football, and sacks managers for fun.
Villa...
Agreed but managers stars can wane quickly. Could be a great stepping stone, either club, or could be a disaster. If he's offered either, be very hard to turn down. Luton will never achieve the profile of either of them.Best thing for Jones would be a full season in charge of Luton. Villa and Cardiff may be tempting, but moving to them and not doing well could mean that chances later on are few.
Warnock looks as though he will be Cardiff's new manager.
Nathan Jones would be better off sticking with Luton for now. He has a good shot at getting them promoted from League Two this season which should see his stock rise further.
Have Villa really fallen so far that they're just a stepping stone for a new manager?Agreed but managers stars can wane quickly. Could be a great stepping stone, either club, or could be a disaster.
But the Cardiff idiot does give managers slightly longer - Salde was there for two seasons as was Mackay. Fans' expectations are much lower too. Villa appear to clueless about life in the Championship
Could we wave goodbye to them ?I'd rather he stayed at Luton. I'm not sure it looks good if you are willing to jump ship at the first opportunity. Also, if he went to Villa we can wave goodbye to Stephens and Kayal now.
Luton Town boss rules himself out
Luton Town manager Nathan Jones has become the first man to rule himself out of replacing Roberto Di Matteo as Aston Villa manager.
The Welshman emerged as a surprise contender last night but moved swiftly to pour cold water on suggestions he could be about to dump the Hatters.

Sensible decision.
Villa is a poisoned chalice, as is Cardiff.
Luton is now a well run club, that at league two level is a bit of a sleeping giant. A new stadium on the way, more than possible they will go up this season and then give the Championship a good crack in a season or two. A few years managing Luton will do him far more good than a failed attempt at either Villa or Cardiff where the expectation of both clubs is hugely greater than the ability of the owners to make it happen.
