Nasty burn. Help please.

I burned my wrist on the oven shelf about an hour ago. I immediately ran it under cold water. Unfortunately, our cold tap runs hot to begin with, and I ended up almost scalding myself.

It's a nasty red mark that looks like it might blister up, and it really hurts.

I have an exam tomorrow, am I likely to be in pain tomorrow morning? Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially from any medical types out there. Owww.

Water, lots of it, followed by lots of germolene

Edit: And yes, i'm afraid burns do hurt, there isnt much you can do about that

* Do not use lotions, ointments and creams.
* Do not use adhesive dressings.
* Do not break blisters.

Cold water for at least 10 minutes, and to relieve discomfort.

Germolene does help - its made for minor burns.

Not sure about Savlon, i'd read the instructions on it.

True and keep running the cold water until the heat is taken out of it.

Treating Minor Burns

Run cold water over the burn until the pain reduces. Cover the burn with clean non-fluffy material, like non-pvc clingfilm. If the burn is bigger than a postage stamp, get proper medical advice.

The raised burn itself is only 2cm long, but the red area around it is bigger than a stamp. We don't have any clingfilm at the moment. Got some tin foil though.

 Never fails.

Carry rolls and rolls of it on the fire engine for treating burn victims

Tin foil will hold in the heat. Don't cover it if you don't have cling film.
Keep running the cold water on it until the pain has gone.

Don't use tin foil, that wouldnt be clever!!!

It'll be ok, just use lots of water therapy - i find if you wrap ice and put it on it, that helps the swelling - not sure if this is recommended, however its what i do when i regularly burn myself on our oven!!

Also, read up on Savlon, it can be used for minor burns / scalds, but i think water's better for it

I did this a while back, you need to get it under cold water straight away and leave it there well after it stops hurting. Mine blistered up quite badly so I just left it, by putting stuff on it you're more likely to burst it. It burst when I was in bed so after that I put disinfectant cream on it and it was ok after a few days but the mark was there for months

Savlon claims to be suitable for minor burns according to the tube.
Have located first aid kit; found some antiseptic wipes and some disposable latex gloves like in Wookie's video. There is also a wound healing dressing and a triangular bandage.

It hurts to move my wrist. I don't think this is a good sign
